My mother thinks I should have stuck with writing children’s books. But then I was writing those when I was still a child! I’ve since grown up. I moved from writing dark romantic suspense to ghosts, psychics, and cat whisperers, oh my! JB Skully came first with the Max series from LiquidSilverBooks.com. Max started out dark, but somehow JB morphed into humor as well. I think it was when Ladybird Long came on scene in Desperate to the Max, Book 3 in the series. So JB sort of split into two personalities. Jennifer Skully wanted to write laugh-out-loud stories, and her first release was Sex and the Serial Killer. But oh no! Another personality started to emerge (much to my mother’s horror!). WE (the multiples) wanted to write spicy. And Jasmine Haynes got to come out and play. But of course, now that we were all out of the closet, so to speak, we got a whole variety of comments, many from the peanut gallery. And here’s a few I’d like to share.
10) I imagine your husband needs Viagra. (Was that an insult?)
9) Can I help with your research? (my boss, OMG!!!)
8) Could I do some hands-on critiquing for you?
7) Don’t you have to have more than one person involved for it to be called sex? (Should I have explained how you don’t absolutely positively need more than one person ALL the time?!)
6) My husband raves about your books to all his guy friends. And he hasn’t even read one of them yet!
5) Isn’t there only one way to do it? (Umm, depends on your definition of is…)
4) How can you write a whole book about it? It only takes two minutes. (Poor, poor woman!)
3) That’s like the “funny” sex my husband made me do when we were young. Sometimes, it made me faint. (Should I have asked this lovely elderly lady for details or is that TMI!?)
92 So that’s how you have phone sex! How does one go about finding a young man to try it with? I’d even settle for an old man (my 89-year-old neighbor!)
And my personal favorite:
1) I gave your book to a friend as a present, but I covered all the naughty parts with sticky notes. (Single-handedly, she keeps the sticky note people in business!)
So, to find out what everyone’s referring to, please don’t miss The Fortune Hunter by Jasmine Haynes, in bookstores next Tuesday. It’s a sexy tale of a woman who agrees to be her own husband’s uninhibited mistress. Faith Castle wants a family, Connor Kingston wants to run her father’s company. In a modern-day marriage of convenience, the bargaining begins with the kind of no-holds barred sex life Connor desires and Faith is afraid she can’t live up to. Now everything is on the table, including them…
The Fortune Hunter is the first book of my “swan” trilogy about women coming into their own, finding themselves. Show and Tell will be out in July 2008 and Games People Play arrives sometime in early 2009. I will also have an anthology story out in December 2008. In addition to Jasmine Haynes, I also write as Jennifer Skully, over-the-top (hopefully hilarious) romantic mysteries, and as JB Skully, I’ve created the Max Starr psychic mystery series at http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com. Readers can learn more about all my pseudonyms at http://www.skullybuzz.com. They can also watch two movie trailers on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/skullybuzz. Subscribing to my newsletter for updates on the latest releases is easy, just send an email to skullybuzz-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
And don’t miss my monthly contest with lots of wonderful prizes from different authors at http://www.skullybuzz.com.
And for those of you who comment today, I’ll be putting you in a drawing for a PDF download of JB Skully’s Dead to the Max, Book 1 in the Max Starr series. I’ll choose the winner at midnight (okay, I’ll be in bed, so I’ll choose the winner as soon as I get up in the morning!)
Thanks for having me!
LOL on #10 and that would have been way too much info on #3. ROFL
OMG!! How funny are those comments?? 😛
I wish I had a neighbor like the 89 year old phone sex senior!
My curiousity is piqued about #3….it may be TMI, but WHOA!! Fainting?
Come on, aren’t you just a wee bit intrigued?
I figured that it must be something really good if it made her faint. Thought it would be more fun to imagine though. The reality could blow the fantasy. And yes, some seniors are very cool. And surprise the heck out of you!

This was an awesome blog!! And I can’t wait to read about Connor and Faith…if they’re half as funny as you are, I’m so sold!!
Very humorous. Marking naughty scenes in a book is something most of us do.
Thank you, Melissa! I appreciate that. And there is humor in The Fortune Hunter. The scene where Faith goes to the adult toy store…well, I won’t spoil it! However, I also write humor as Jennifer Skully. It Must Be Magic was my latest book.
And Jane, I will admit to a few dog-eared pages in some books!

Anyone who hasn’t read any of To The Max series, you are in for a treat. I loved this series and read them all back to back, what a treat. Congrats on your new release Jasmine, I will definitely be picking up Fortune Hunter.
Wow, Cathy, thanks so much! I am so glad you loved Max. She will always be one of my favorite characters, along with her sort-of boyfriend Witt. Actually, I haven’t gotten over being in love with him. Oh well, that’s what writers do! And thanks for picking up The Fortune Hunter. Though it’s not supposed to be out yet, my husband just called to say he saw it in our local Borders! For some reason, the first sighting of a new book always excites me.

This was a good one! Don’t we always take knocks being romance readers and/or writers!
Yes, Laura, we’re always taking a few knocks. But we get right back up!
