I hate these “About” pages as I never know what to say but I guess I have to jump in and say something since I’m the one that’s going to be running this blog. 🙂 My name is Fatin, known as Mad around the boards and blogs. I’m a huge avid reader. I’ve been reading books all my life but didn’t get into romance novels until I was 17 years old. I was a new mom with a two month old baby daughter and since she napped all the time I got into reading as there was only so much soap operas and talk shows a person could watch before they all started to repeat themselves. 🙂 I can still remember the two books that hooked me on romance books. THE SECRET by Julie Garwood and LACY by Diana Palmer. Both are still favorite authors of mine that I go back to when I find myself falling into a slump.
Fast forward to today and I’m now a SAHM to 4 girls, ages 19, 18, 13 & 8. When I’m not being my husband’s Go-For Gal, the girls have me spending a lot of time taking them to various school events and/or sports games. I find that I spend a lot of time in carpool lines which means I never leave home without a book or two or even a box of books “just in case” I need it when I’m out. I have too many authors I consider my favorites and my TBR was taking over our small townhouse until we bought our first home last summer. Now it’s all contained (over 2,000 books) in my office (which is a room hubby refuses to come into…Thank God LOL) and in boxes and bins in the attic that I still haven’t had a chance to really unpack yet.
I read a mix of everything. Contemporary, historical, paranormal, series books. Paperback, hardcover, e-books. I’m not picky. If it grabs me, I’ll read it. If someone gushes about a book they’ve read, more times than not, it’s one that goes on my wishlist so I can get my hands on it too.
One of the big things I love is that I’ve passed on my love of reading to my girls. All are avid readers too but as of yet, none are reading “mom’s” books yet. I keep telling them I’m looking forward to the day one of them will grab a book off of shelf and read it so we can discuss it and see how they liked it. Until that day arrives, I’ll still be saying “Hey, you should read….” until they take me up on my offer. 🙂
So I hope you join me in this new venture of mine and RRAH. I’m used to being one of the “behind the scenes” ladies but it seems like it’s time for me to step up and do something different. Just be gentle, I’m nervous as it is. 🙂
