All business, all the time, had made Justin Stern a very confirmed bachelor. Yet one glance at Selena Gonzalez and he knew changes were in order. Perhaps marriage wasn’t in his future, but an affair certainly was.

Never mind that he and Selena were on opposite sides of a deal that could make or break them both. Pretty soon, passion was the top priority. And if Justin could finesse their white-hot attraction into a win for his company, he would—no matter what the cost.

Having worked in the corporate world (Walt Disney World, 15 years) I know a thing or two about offices and office romances. It is absolutely hands-down my favorite source of conflict and that is where I started with this book. Though in SEDUCING THE OPPOSITION, Selena and Justin don’t work together in the strictest sense, they are adversaries as Justin represents the Luna Azul Company and wants to buy-out Selena’s grandfather’s grocery store.

They both have their reasons for wanting to win. Their families play a key role this desire to prove themselves. This is something that resonates with me because my family is so much a part of my life.

As a girl growing up my family lived out in the country where we had our orange grove and at one time a chicken ranch! My sisters and I were forced by isolation to depend on each other for friendship and that created a deep bond between us which still lasts today even though we live on opposite coasts.

What about you? Do you have a close family?

Interesting coincidence: I have two books out within 30 days of each other and both are set in Washington, D.C. In light of that, you could probably assume that Washington is my favorite city. It’s certainly one of them. However, at the top of my list is San Francisco. I love that city. I love everything about it—the hills, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, the cable cars, the architecture, the restaurants, the landmarks. From the first time I was ever there in 1988, the city of San Francisco has spoken to me in a way that almost nowhere else ever has. One of my fondest desires is to one day live there, even if for just a year or so.

I have the funniest memories of being there with my parents when I was a senior in college. My mom and I were in the back of a cab that was literally FLYING over the hills. As we caught air for the second or third time, my mother was speechless, and the look on her face made me laugh so hard. My husband and I took our kids there in 2006, and they loved it, too. I remember one night when they were driving us a bit nuts with the bickering (you gotta love the family vacation) so we “Force” marched them UP Lombard Street. Needless to say, we didn’t hear much more out of them for the remainder of that day.

In Everyone Loves a Hero, Cole, a pilot, meets Olivia, a timid artist, who hasn’t traveled much in her life. The one place she wants to go more than anywhere else is San Francisco so she can paint the Golden Gate Bridge. Cole takes her on a surprise trip to her favorite city where her whole life changes in a matter of days. That trip is, of course, my favorite part of the book.

What is your favorite city? Have you been to San Francisco? What did you think of it?

Here’s a bit about Everyone Loves a Hero:

Hero pilot Cole Langston is learning to live with—and enjoy—his newfound fame and the rabid female attention that comes with it until a lucky punch knocks some sense into him and opens his eyes to true love.

When his copilot suffers a heart attack in flight, Cole lands the jetliner in a blizzard and revives the stricken captain. Catapulted to national hero status, Cole has more women vying for his attention than he knows what to do with. They all have one thing in common: they try without success to bring this happy-go-lucky pilot down to earth. Then comes an airport altercation, a punch to the face, and the lovely Olivia—a shy, timid artist who does what no other woman has ever managed to do: steal Cole’s well-protected heart. With women coming on to him everywhere they go, Olivia struggles to believe that Cole is ready for a committed relationship. His biggest problem is getting rid of all his extra ladies before the only one he wants figures out that she’s one of many.

Thanks again for having me! Look forward to chatting today.

The sultry heat. The pulsing music. How could millionaire club owner Nate Stern have resisted taking Jen Miller into his arms? Though everyone in Miami considered him a playboy, Nate never flirted with his employees. Yet something about Jen had him changing his mind.

Sleeping with her VIP boss was risky, but the businessman’s charms had Jen throwing caution to the wind. Still, she’d been hurt before. Knowing Nate must play the role of Casanova for the press had her guarding her heart. But when Nate held her close, Jen couldn’t resist the flames…no matter what.

This book was inspired by my obsession with Dancing with the Stars. I don’t know if its simply the costumes which I like or the fact that we get to see the catty backstage antics of the “celebs” and their partners, but I adore the show. I started with the seed of an idea that was a former baseball player is on the show and scandal ensues. But unfortunately that initial idea didn’t have enough conflict and a secondary element in my proposal…a hot Miami nightclub became the central locale for this story.

Nate Stern is still a playboy former pro baseball player and Jen continued to be a dancer but instead of playing in the world of ballroom dance, she teaches Latin dances to the A-listers who come to the club and catches Nate’s eye.

I still got to use the dances I’ve come to love on Dancing with the Stars, they are so sensual and perfect for forcing an intimacy between Jen and Nate before they are ready for it.

I hope you’ll enjoy my little homage to Dancing with the Stars in TAMING THE VIP PLAYBOY.

Have you ever turned an obsession into something you could use in your real-life? I’m giving away an autographed copy of TAMING THE VIP PLAYBOY to a randomly selected blog participant today.

This is been the week for beautiful cover reveals!

The first two books in this series were crazy hot and, judging by the cover and blurb, Ms. Dee plans to keep the heat coming. I wants!

It’s been a long, lonely business trip for diamond dealer Max Ashberg. He’s missed his lover like crazy, and he’s come to the realization that he’s ready to take the next step: nominate himself to be Trev’s new housemate. Except when he gets to Trev’s place, there’s someone living in “his” room. A woman—with the face of an angel.

Six weeks shouldn’t make a huge difference in a man’s life, but in that time lawyer Trev Greenfield has realized two things: He wants much more than a standing Friday night “date” with Max. And he’s falling heart-over-head for his new housemate, potter Grace Miles.

Grace never meant to fall for Trev, but when a power failure turns their chemistry into live electricity, there’s no denying the spark. There’s also no denying the shock when Grace discovers a naked man in her new home.

With Grace poised to run and Max teetering between confusion and growing lust for the delicious possibilities, Trev has his hands full trying to hold the two loves of his life together…before they slip through his fingers. Leaving them all with shattered hearts.

Product Warnings: There’s a lot of sex in this book. I mean a lot! Hot sex. Sweaty sex. Gay sex. Straight sex. Ménage sex (M/M/F and M/F/M). Oh, and romantic sex. Lots of romantic sex. Hot romantic sex. Sweaty romantic sex. Gay romantic sex… You getting the picture.

Lisa “Garrie” McGarrity is young woman once mentored by a ghost who now leads a ghostbuster team–all of whom are recently entangled with Trevarr, a fiercely driven demon-hunter from a different dimension.  After tumultuous adventures in San Jose, the team finds themselves much changed and struggling to adjust, while Trevarr returns to this world–and to Garrie–a battered exile.

But Garrie and her team don’t head for home; Quinn Rossiter has a lady friend in Sedona who needs their help.  There, in that area of power convergence, Garrie is astonished to find the ethereal breezes quiet, the earth’s activity so diminished as to be nonexistent…if you don’t count those oddball surges that don’t taste like our world at all.

Soon enough, Quinn’s skeptical friend goes missing…soon enough, their efforts to contain the situation go amazingly awry.  With Trevarr wary and alert, his opinionated not-cat bond partner dropping dire hints of trouble on their trail, Sedona ghosts rising to act out against Garrie wherever she goes, and one living Keharian ethereal detector gone completely amuck, she has only just so much time to figure out what’s going on before the power plays are too much even for this one-of-a-kind reckoner and her otherworldly partner.

I need to get out more.

At a recent conference, where I was on the spot being an Author on a Panel, I mistakenly referred to the romance book expectation of “Happily Ever After” as “the Happy Ending.”

Oh yes I did.

More’s the pity, I had no idea why the audience burst into laughter.

Well, I suppose in some books, it IS the same thing…

Anyway, a kind soul enlightened me, and I turned beet red, and that was that. For the panel, anyway. But it got me to thinking about Happily Ever After, and how…well, I don’t tend to do that.

The thing is, in real life, there is no Happily Ever After–and I mean that in the best possible way. Those lovers who find their perfect match (against all odds, natch!) don’t stop being. They face new challenges, and overcome those together, too. They continue together.

My characters are real enough to me so their lives go on, too. There are consequences to what they do in their grand adventures, both personal and practical. The things they’ve been through affect them; they grow, and need to understand what they mean to each other in these new circumstances. There’s always a next thing.

In Garrie’s case, her reckoner team needs to come to terms with an otherworldly half-blood they never truly trusted in the first place…but they do trust Garrie. Garrie needs to come to terms with the changes wrought within her, thanks to the new energies she’s faced. Trevarr faces both the mundane (Arizona rest stops) and the unexpected (how can this world not have the right food?). And irrepressible, unpredictable Sklayne…

Well. Sklayne wants to go home. And he wants to taste new things. Sometimes in that order, sometimes not. And just maybe, if he was to admit it, he wants his half-human partner to be happy.

Not that I’m going to make it easy for any of them…

But that’s how it is for me. Just because the book reaches the last page doesn’t mean the story doesn’t go on.

And I like it that way.

Although VISIONS OF MAGIC is the first book by Regan Hastings, it’s far from the author’s first book. Under another name, she has been nominated six times for the prestigious RITA award from the Romance Writers of America. Her romance novels have appeared many times on the USA TODAY bestsellers list.

About a year ago, the idea for my new Awakening series flashed into myhead. This isn’t an isolated event. In fact, I’ve written more than 100 books under another name. Ideas are plentiful, but I knew immediately that this one was special. It started, as the best ideas do, with a simple question: What if witches were real?

I wanted to root my new world in reality. VISIONS OF MAGIC takes place today, in a world that’s instantly recognizable to the reader, but with some imaginative twists. When Shea and her Eternal (Torin, an immortal warrior) travel, they don’t always have to rely on our traditional modes of transportation. Torin can travel by fire. He is, quite literally, the hottest hero I’ve ever written.

At its emotional core, the book is very much based in how we humans feel and react. It’s human nature to be leery of “the other,” ie, anyone who thinks or behaves differently than we do. That leeriness turns to full-fledged fear when our lives are threatened. Think of the Japanese internment camps of World War II. The bombing of Pearl Harbor was a cataclysmic event that made Americans feel vulnerable and helpless to do anything about it, which led to rage and overreaction. I could imagine the same thing happening if we learned that a few chosen people can call fire to their fingertips.

In the world of VISIONS OF MAGIC, witches are not only real, they’re dangerous. When their powers first awaken, the witches don’t know how to control them, and people are hurt. Killed. This is a dark and dangerous world. Malevolence is assumed, and soon the world is at war. Shea, newly discovered as a witch, must run for her life even as she wrestles for control of her powers so she can save ungrateful humanity.

It’s also very human to turn to each other in times of fear, and that’s just what Shea and Torin do. On the run, their emotions are heightened, and that makes for some sizzling love scenes between these destined mates. Poor Torin is very crabby after all the time he has waited for Shea’s powers to awaken.

Before I began writing the Awakening books, I spent quite a bit of time building this new world. Nora Roberts does an exceptional job of this with her J.D. Robb books. As does Lara Adrian with the Midnight Breed series. Genius. Moody and evocative, dripping with atmosphere. So I asked myself, if witches were real and a threat to Americans, how would our society react?

What do you think would happen if witches were real and a threat to the lives of innocent people? How would people in your town react? How would the government react? How would you react if you suspected your best friend was a witch?

I’m holding a contest for readers to guess my true identity for a chance to win a Federal Bureau of Witchcraft fleece jacket. Enter at www.reganhastings.com. The contest ends February 1, the release date of VISIONS OF MAGIC, so enter right away!

Once one of the “no-account Raines boys,” Gabriel Raines has pulled himself out of poverty by his bootstraps to become a successful businessman—one who has become the target of revenge…

You can’t fight what you can’t see. And Gabriel Raines can’t be sure just who’s setting the fires in his new real-estate development. When two fires hit back-to-back, he knows it’s personal, but any number of competitors or ex-employees could be the arsonist.

The police suspect Angel Ramirez, a local teen who’s been in trouble before. But Mattie Baker, a volunteer at the Family Abuse center, just can’t believe the kid she’s been working with would go back to his delinquent ways.

Determined to convince Gabe that she’s right, Mattie must get close to him and find out who’s putting their neighborhood in jeopardy. And just as the arsonist’s flames continue to burn, they find a heat developing between them. It might just turn into a full-fledged fire…if they can survive long enough.

When I come up with a story idea, one of the most import things and sometimes the hardest to do is to find the right romantic match for the hero or heroine who is the primary character in the book. Since AGAINST THE FIRE centers around Gabe Raines, an ex-marine, a tough, strong, hardworking guy (with a very high sex drive), I wanted a woman who was his equal. That meant she had to be tough, strong, hardworking and though she doesn’t realize it at first, a woman with a very passionate nature.

Mattie Baker is all of those things but she’s also a woman who finds it difficult to trust. Though she’s drawn to Gabe, she believes he is not suited to her in the least. She’s an architect, college graduate, a business woman. Gabe is a contractor, a guy who works with his hands.

And Mattie has trust issues. Her father died and left her and her mother impoverished. She doesn’t ever want to find herself dependent on a man.

But as the two are thrown together trying to find the arsonist who is burning down Gabe’s construction projects and putting people’s lives in danger, Mattie begins to see how much they have in common. They’re not so far apart as she believed.

And there is the sexuality that vibrates between them. It doesn’t take Gabe long to figure out that Mattie is too strong a woman for the men she has been dating. She needs a man who really IS a man, a guy who can bring out the passionate woman she is inside.

The trust issue is another problem. But Gabe is a trustworthy, dependable guy who is smart enough to realize that Mattie needs her own space, her own successes.

So matching them was fun and of course setting them off on a dangerous, desperate adventure added to the mix.

I hope you enjoy AGAINST THE FIRE and that you’ll watch for Dev Raines story in AGAINST THE LAW.

Till then, all best and happy reading. Kat

A few months back the fabulous and talented Nikki Duncan and I were chatting about writing, and we decided that wanted to do a project together.  Knowing we wanted a third author we asked the wonderful Mackenzie McKade to join us. Our collaborating has resulted in three delicious novellas, Wild, Wet and Wicked in Whispering Cove, three interrelated novellas that are available now at Amazon, BN and Smashword.

After we decided that we wanted to write our stories in a small fishing community I had to think about what kind of story I wanted to write.  One of my favourite story lines is reunited loves—I love the angst, the history between couples and how the hero and heroine must overcome some past tragedy to find their happily ever after.

Now that I knew my story line, I had to develop characters and decide on professions for each of them.  Well, I immediately knew I wanted to make my hero a small town firefighter.  Ah, yes, there is just something about those firefighters that get to me <wink>.  And what woman doesn’t have a sweet tooth for a man in uniform?  Next up was my heroine, who was she and what did she do for a living.

While I’m a horrible cook myself I’d been watching a lot of cooking shows on television, my favourites being Michael Smith from Prince Edward Island, Jamie Oliver and Rachel Ray, so I decided I wanted to make my heroine a chef.  When you read the book you’ll noticed that for the most part I shied away from talking about food, even though the heroine had returned home and was trying out new, gourmet recipes for her parents restaurants.

While I might have stayed away from talking about fancy food, I had no problem with the hero and heroine experimenting with melted chocolate to sweeten their reunion.  Ah, so sweet, so hot, so delicious…

To learn more about Wet, in Whispering Cove please visit my website www.cathrynfox.com .

Whispering Cove, Maine is bustling with the excitement of their first ten year high school reunion looming on the horizon. Even the town’s favorite grandfathers—Byron Mitchell, Harold Adair and Errol Wilson—are anticipating the return of the young ones. Specifically, their young ones.

The grandchildren who skipped town after graduation and have failed to settle down with a family are coming back for a prolonged visit. During their weekly poker game, Byron, Harold and Errol cook up a plan to keep their grandkids home, or at least see them settled into marriage before they leave. To make things interesting, they place a bet on which grandchild will be the first to the altar, after all they’re not going to be around forever and the sound of great grandkids sure would help shake things up a bit in the quaint, touristy fishing village.

When the kids arrive home, the matchmaking games and antics begin as these three men battle each other, and go to great lengths, to win their prideful bet.

Haunting memories made her run—family forced her return—can love make her stay?

A dark secret keeps her away from the sleepy seaport village, until she receives an ambiguous telephone from her grandfather. He’s in the hospital. Desperate to cling to her only living relative she races back home and straight into the arms of the one man she can’t bear to face.

Sheriff, Brody McGrath, built his life without the woman of his dreams, but when he catches Andie, thinking she’s a prowler, he isn’t prepared for the onslaught of emotions—grief, regret, heartache, and love.

There is no denying the old spark between them still burns brightly, but can love defeat the demons of Andie’s past and allow her to live again?

A summer hiatus goes from relaxing to sizzling with a look, a kiss, and a taste of melted chocolate.

Celebrity Chef Kathleen Wilson has returned to Whispering Cove for her high school reunion. Tired of big city life, she is looking forward to relaxing in the quaint fishing village, but the one thing she’s not looking forward to is facing the boy from her past. The boy she turned her back on ten years ago. The same boy she has never quite gotten over.

Firefighter Trent Parker has never given up on reuniting with his Katy, and when he hears she’s back in town, he believes a blatant seduction is just the thing to show her where she belongs. Sparks fly the second they see one another and when he accidentally soaks her with his fire hose it generates heat and need inside them both with only one way to extinguish those fiery flames.

Soon they are burning up the sheets but when morning comes and the smoke clears, one question remains. Will Katy leave for another ten years, or will she realize the fire they’ve ignited isn’t about to burn out?
