Who remembers that great song by The Divinyls, Pleasure and Pain? If I had to pick one song that Simone, the heroine of my five part erotic romance, Every Part of You, would consider her theme song, it would be that one.
Simone likes pain. A lot. Simone’s a masochist…but not a submissive. Writing her was interesting because of this. Masochism and submission so often go hand-in-hand that it can be hard to imagine a person not merely enjoying but craving pain, without also wanting to submit.
From Every Part of You: Resists Me (#2)
“I don’t like being tied up. Or spanked as discipline.” The tone of her voice had gone from light to slightly harsh, but she didn’t work too hard to change it. “I will never, ever wear a collar. I won’t call any man Master.”
He smiled then, finally, and though it was far from that brilliant one she’d had the luck to catch the night they’d been together, it was better than the frown. “No. I don’t imagine you ever would.”
She smiled, too. “I like you, Elliott Anderson. You’re smart. You have a good job. You’re sexy as hell–”
He snorted soft laughter at that and shook his head.
“And you like to hurt women when you fuck them.”
That stopped his laughter as fast as it had begun. The frown was back, this time accompanied by furrowed brows. He didn’t deny it, but obviously he didn’t want to admit it, either.
“You like it,” she repeated softly. “And I like it. So where’s the harm in liking it together?”
He shook his head again. Harder, this time. “You have no idea.”
“About what? What I like?” It was Simone’s turn to frown. “Because I can guarantee you, I’ve had enough time to figure it out. I mean, this wouldn’t be the first time a dude’s tried to tell me what I like or not–”
“No. Not about what you like. About what I like. I don’t. Like . . . that,” Elliott said.
He was lying to himself. She knew it, but wasn’t going to call him on it. Taking a chance, Simone sidled a little closer. “All I’m saying is, maybe we could give it a try.”
Elliott, on the other hand, won’t admit that he has sadistic tendencies. As much as he also gets off on giving Simone what she wants, he refuses to explore what he considers a darkness inside him. Even when she encourages him to embrace it, Elliott can’t.
Needless to say, this causes a lot of trouble between them, because Simone is a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid, embarrassed or ashamed about it. Getting it is a little harder, because most of the men she finds who are willing to give her the pain she craves also want to dominate her. So when she realizes Elliott gets off on hurting her but doesn’t expect her to serve him, there’s no way she’s going to give up on him. No matter how grouchy he is about!
Simone’s chin went up. “Fine. Listen, I don’t beg. I don’t chase. I don’t need to.”
“I’m sure you don’t.” It was a compliment that sounded vaguely like an insult, and it stung her unexpectedly.
She pushed away from the desk. “Enjoy the scones.”
He reached to snag her sleeve as she passed. “Wait a minute.”
She waited without looking at him. Elliott let her wait, but he didn’t say anything. Finally, she turned. “What?”
“You don’t know me,” he said.
She gave a pointed look at the scones. The coffee. The napkins. Then at him. She raised a brow.
“No?”
His mouth thinned. “No, Simone. You don’t.”
“Fine,” she said again.
“I know you think I’m a dick.”
She laughed then. “Oh. Yeah. Definitely.”
“I’m sorry,” Elliott said.
“No, you’re not,” Simone told him as she took up his phone from where he’d left it on the desk. She programmed something into it quickly and put it back. “But when you are, I guess you know where to find me.”
When she’d gone, he thumbed the screen to check what she’d done. It was easy to see, since she hadn’t closed the address book. She’d left him her phone number.
Shakespeare’s the one who said the course of true love never did run smooth, and that’s especially true in Simone and Elliott’s case. The more she tries to give, the less he refuses to take. It’s a back-and-forth denial and acceptance that drives her crazy with frustration, yet something about each of them keeps the other coming back for more.
Every Part of You is a five part erotic romance serial, perfect for readers who like the tease and anticipation of waiting for the next installment, as well as for those with a little more patience who want to wait for the entire story to release so they can indulge in the entire tale at once.
Every Part of You: Tempts Me, available 2/4/14
Every Part of You: Resists Me, available 2/18/14
Every Part of You: Taunts Me, available 3/4/14
Every Part of You: Denies Me, available 3/18/14
Every Part of You: Takes Me, available 4/1/14
Blurb for Every Part of You: Resists Me (#2)
The dance has begun. Simone’s ready to follow all her desires, but reluctant Elliott isn’t ready to take the lead. After teasing Elliott into going dancing with her, Simone seduces him. She knows what she wants and isn’t afraid of asking for it, and Elliott appears to be as eager as she is to see where their passion takes them. The sex is electric, but Elliott is taken aback by his response to her, and when Simone reveals her kink for pain to him, he’s unable to accept it and tells her he doesn’t want to see her again.
And then they’re both invited to the same party.

MARKED Anthology – First Glimpse of HER

MARKED: Three stories of passion, possession, and ink
Stories can take us from our everyday world into the future, or to places in the current here and now that we’ve never before been. They can show us heat, and passion, and in the case of an anthology, provide more than one trip to a fabulous happily-ever-after.
Kit Rocha, Lauren Dane and Vivian Arend welcome you to MARKED. Three brand new stories we’re thrilled to share with you.
We’re stopping off at some our favorite blogs with some steamy excerpts. Each of us has pulled a snippet from our novella following a chosen theme, to give you a taste of what you’ll find in MARKED. The theme for this post?
~~~First Glimpse of HER~~~
Beyond Temptation
Kit Rocha returns to Sector Four in BEYOND TEMPTATION. A promise to a dying friend backfires when Noah Lennox finds that the girl he was supposed to rescue is all grown up–and wearing O’Kane ink. He wants to protect her from the secrets of their past, but she wants him. And an O’Kane woman always gets what she wants.
~*~
Music washed over Noah as he slipped through the door, a rough bass line that pounded in time with his heart as
Emma gripped the hilts of the knives strapped to her sleek thighs and circled her hips with a raw, knowing sexuality that had Noah’s dick half-hard already.
Emma was stripping at the most infamous bar in all eight sectors, a fact that would have been crazy enough all on its own. But tattoos curled around her wrists, cuffs that stretched from the tops of her hands halfway to her elbows, a sight only slightly less infamous than the bar. Members of Dallas’s gang wore those cuffs, inescapable proof that she really had joined up with the O’Kanes.
Appreciative noises rose from the crowd as Emma slipped the sharp end of one blade under her shirt, slicing the tight black cotton right down the middle. It pulled away, baring her breasts–and the taut pink tips of her nipples.
~~~***~~~
Rocky Ride
Take a ROCKY RIDE with New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Vivian Arend as she leads you back to the Six Pack Ranch. Anna Coleman might be the law around Rocky Mountain House, but bad boy Mitch Thompson knows that under the stiff RCMP uniform is a woman with a passion for speed and pleasure that matches his own, and he’s not giving up until she’s his.
~*~
Mitch grinned harder, pushing her against the car before she could run away and clean up the signs of their wild debauchery. He pinned her in place, his hands pushing her wrists to the roof as he slid one leg between her thighs and held her bare ass to the car door. Her dark brown hair was a mess tumbled about her shoulders, her pupils still full and dark against her pale blue irises. The flush on her cheeks from the wild sex, not some maidenly blush. “I like you dirty,” he admitted.
Her eyes flashed brightly for a second before she pulled on her cop uniform. Not the navy slacks and powder-blue shirt, but the mental shield she wore. As real as a tangible piece of fabric, Anna transformed before his eyes from his sexy, uninhibited lover to the woman who wrote up tickets and toed the line.
All the lines. All the time.
~~~***~~~
All That Remains
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Lauren Dane takes you into a brand new world in ALL THAT REMAINS. Summer Killian falls fast and hard when Charlie arrives in Paradise Village. But the heat turns all the way up when she learns Charlie is also with Hatch – the man she loved three years before. While she’s not sure she’s cut out for a triad, neither man is going to give her up.
~*~
“I met someone. She’ll be at the social tonight.”
Hatch already had his cap tucked in his back pocket but he smiled as he took some bread and cheese as they headed out the door. “You work fast.”
“This one is different . I think. Strawberry blonde. Big blue eyes. Freckles. Flirts just right. Her mouth, Christ, baby, she’s got a mouth on her that may be as lush as yours. It’s the woman from the path last night. I didn’t see all of her in the dark, but in the full morning sun she’s beautiful.”
“You know I love redheads, but I have a deep weakness for those pale strawberry blondes.” Hatch slid his sunglasses up his nose and it felt to Charlie like he was changing the subject. “You’re antsy now, aren’t you?”
“Not antsy really. I just… she’s different. I don’t know if I can say why. Made me think about roots and a woman to fit in that space in our life.” He shrugged. Of the two, Charlie knew who was the more sentimental one.
I like tropes. Knowing you’ll find something familiar and loved within a book just appeals to me. I think that tends to be fairly common… it’s why you see them. The older brother/best friend, the friends to lovers/enemies to lovers, the high school sweetheart/reunited lovers theme.
Writing Revenge, it’s hard to say, exactly, just which trope would best suit this story.
Ten years ago, the heroine, Shan, was friends, of a sort, with Drake.
Ten years ago, it went from friendship to something more.
Now, she’s running on a need for revenge and a decade’s worth of hurt, so it’s almost an enemy thing.
In the end, though, I think what really fits is that these two are being pulled back together. Reunited lovers.
Shan is out for revenge, but her heart has other ideas in mind.
Of course, she’s got a lot of mental blocks, a lot of old hurt getting in the way and she hasn’t even come close to dealing with any of it.
Those old hurts are tied into everything that happened when she was seventeen, although none of it is really over. There are things that will haunt her the rest of her life and instead of dealing, she’s…shut down.
Book 1, Revenge is all about her coming to grips with that. Redemption, book 2, takes it a step further and Shan has to look at things she wasn’t ever ready to look at. Things like letting go, moving on…forgiving. Which touches on another trope. Second chances.
You can read more about Shan & Drake in Revenge, and then find out how everything turns out in Redemption, the conclusion to Shan & Drake’s story, due out in early 2014.
For now, here’s a snippet.
Don’t think about his kisses.
It was almost impossible not to, but I managed.
His suit, a deep, deep gray, stretched over wide shoulders, fitting him to perfection. I knew how those shoulders looked without the suit, how his skin bronzed under the sun—it wasn’t fair, really. He was a redhead. If fate was fair, he should freckle. Instead, he tanned. I freckled, or burned.
Although I could only see the barest edge of his profile, my heart slammed hard against my ribs.
Don’t do that. Stupid, stupid heart. I’d had a good, long hard talk with myself this morning. I had a goal in mind, a mission. If by some stupid twist of fate I ended up getting this job, I had a mission. I wanted to see him feel as I’d once felt. Miserable, empty.
How I’d accomplish that, I didn’t know, but that was what I wanted.
I’d never get there if my heart got mixed up again. I couldn’t let myself keep remembering how I’d once felt about Drake Gallagher.
But here I was, my heart pounding away, the same way it had when I was seventeen.
And he hadn’t even looked at me.
He nodded, absently reached up to brush a thumb down his jaw as he spoke to the woman before him. She was slender, her midnight hair swept into an elegant knot. Her hand rested on the high mound of her belly, and she nodded at him before turning her dark eyes to look at us.
Her gaze bounced off me, lingered on the blonde who’d smashed my foot, moved to Beth. Measuring up each one of us.
Normally, I’d watch her, subtly, try to figure out how we were stacking up in her eyes.
But Drake had turned around.
And for the first time in ten years, I was looking into the eyes of the man who’d destroyed my life.
Read More
About the book
I was seventeen when I met Drake Gallagher. Seventeen, naive, foolish…and in love. Or so I thought. That summer, and the months that followed, set the course of my life.
Ten years later, I’m still struggling to put the pieces of me back to together.
It’s time to stop struggling. It’s time to take control…and maybe, it’s time for a little revenge.
He doesn’t have time for naive little virgins?
Well, I’m not naive anymore.
Trask is a lust demon on the hunt for a playmate, a human exceptional enough to sate some of his ravenous hunger. When he finds Rena, he knows that she is the one he must have. He makes it his business to seduce her.
Rena is immediately drawn to Trask. She could easily fall for the dangerously sexy bad boy who makes her scream every time he makes her come, but the problem with bad boys is that they’re actually bad. They break girls’ hearts and hers has been broken too many times already. One more crack might shatter it forever.
Trask claims Rena for his own, but she needs more than just sizzling sex. She wants to trust him, but can they ever share anything more than lust?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Hello, and thanks so much for hosting me today!
I once read an article, in RT Book Reviews I believe, about all the various and important things that go on behind the scenes when creating a novel. Sadly, a novel just doesn’t pop out of the computer screen on demand. It takes time—sometimes lots of time. While all the inspiration and genius is happening, an author needs to sustain herself. Also, breaks. Lots and lots of breaks. To keep those creative juices flowing of course.
A Matter of Lust took me about four months to write. I am a slow writer. I admit it. It would seem appropriate that while writing about a lust demon, I might indulge in a few sinful activities of my own. During that time, I probably consumed my weight in chocolate three times over. But that’s just the least of it. Today, I’m going to share all that I devoured and the many ways I dawdled with while writing Trask and Rena’s story.
Be warned—it isn’t pretty.
Lisa’s List of Work Vices and Procrastinations
- 1440 cups of coffee (4 months x 12 cups a day. This is an average of course. I generally drink more than 12 cups a day)
- 6,432 “just two minutes!” breaks to check out what was going on Twitter
- 114 miles of “walking around the block” when I was stuck and frustrated
- 563 uses of the word pulse
- 591 trips to the thesaurus to find synonyms for pulse
- Double that number and multiply it by 14 to include thrust and throb and trembling
- 72 bags of ranch flavored sunflower seeds (my pacifier since I quit smoking)
- 41 packs of gum (another smoking substitution)
- 16 dozen thumbprint cookies from my local bakery
- 60 calls to my local restaurant delivery service because I couldn’t be bothered cooking or actually leaving my house to eat anything. Thank God they have a great selection
- 836 different colorful metaphors shouted, mumbled and hissed
- 9 bottles of champagne devoured in celebration and desperation
- 7 hysterical emails to my friend and first reader agonizing over the title
- 2,005 pictures of hot men perused to garner “inspiration”
I am doing edits right now on a sexy Quickie that takes place on Mardi Gras night which will be coming soon from Ellora’s Cave and I have a brand new vice for it: Brown Cow Maple yogurt. That stuff is made of awesome and I can’t get enough of it.
Do you have a favorite vice or time waster? Let me know in the comments and win a copy of A Matter of Lust!
To find out what happened to her sister, Sherry just has to go with Mason Hayward to the ends of the earth…oh, and give him utter control over her mind, body and soul.
New York cop Sherry Abandonato cashes in her savings and dashes to Ningaloo in remote north-west Western Australia to find her sister who disappeared ten days ago.The only one with the skill to guide her to Derremawan is Mason Hayward, once an official guide and still with a reputation for getting people out of trouble, but now the town’s bad man.
In a searing afternoon of unexpected passion, Mason strikes a bargain: He’ll get her to Derremawan, if she agrees to go there with him unconditionally, on his terms, and his conditions. Sherry is astonished to find herself agreeing to the insane bargain, and worse, responding positively to the idea of three days of Mason Hayward dictating terms out under the Australian sun…
Warning: This story features multiple sex scenes, including anal sex, the use of sex toys and MF sexual play. Do not read this book if frank sexual language and sex scenes offend you.
No panties were seriously harmed during the production of this book.Ningaloo Nights is part of the Go Get ‘em Women Collection
Ningaloo – The Deadly But Beautiful Territory
One of the odd facts about writing that the Internet has made more convenient for writers, and at the same time a more open fact for readers, is that writers use “beta readers” – readers who love the genre but have no intentions of ever becoming writers themselves, who agree to read a writer’s work before it goes before an editor. A beta reader provides essential early feedback to an author, and lets them know that they’re on the right track. Often, the writer is just looking for reassurance that the book they’ve just written doesn’t totally suck. J. Sometimes they’re looking for more subtle information about characters, story turns and surprises: “Did that come as a genuine surprise for you? Did I cover it up enough?” and so forth.
I don’t always use beta readers, usually because they’re so damned hard to find, which may come as a shock to most readers reading this. But authors are constantly looking for skilled beta readers and there’s never enough to go around.
However, I’m getting past the point I wanted to make (that’s me, Aussie loud mouth).
I do reach out to beta readers when I’m writing a story that is unusual or outside my normal genre, and in the case of Ningaloo Nights, I absolutely knew I had to use a beta reader to bounce off, because I had to make sure that all the Australianisms didn’t leave the mostly North American readers scratching their heads and going “huh?” I’ve been having running arguments with the line editors for years over certain words and phrases that “aren’t real words,” that were real enough where I came from, but had to go because the line editors didn’t understand them. But in this case, because the book was very deliberately about Australia, and featuring Australians in their native element, I needed to make sure it was still comprehensible to non-Australians.
But the single question that came back from the readers had nothing to do with grammar. They all loved the book, understood everything in it and wanted to instantly pack for an extended vacation in the outback, preferably with a guide that looked a lot like Mason Hayward, the hero in Ningaloo Nights.
The single question I got back, though, was a puzzled and politely phrased disbelief. “You don’t really have to be that careful about travelling around the countryside out there, do you? Surely it’s not that dangerous anymore? You just tweaked it a bit for the story, right?”
In the story, Mason takes great pains to conserve water, as they have to cart all their own water to and from Derremawan. They also have to travel during the cooler parts of the day and into the night because it’s simply so hot that petrol will simply evaporate before it reaches the engine block. But they can’t travel completely at night because they’ll miss the tracks that others have left in the dirt, that are the only markings that show the way to Derramawan, the remote location where Sherry, the heroine, needs to reach to find her missing sister. Then there’s other precautions that include staying out of the sun to avoid sunstroke…and more that I can’t explain here without spoiling the story.
These are all valid and still viable safety precautions that every Australian traveller understands and uses in the more remote areas even today. I learned them as a kid, when I was travelling with my parents — right around the Ningaloo area where Ningaloo Nights is set. The fact is that the Australian country looks flat, dry and pretty uninteresting when you look at it in the hottest months of the year. Nothing moves but the heat hazes, and the odd snake. There’s not even any crocodiles in the west. Too hot, too dry.
Yet Ningaloo and the reef is some of the most spectacular and still mostly untouched territory in the world. It’s virtually unspoiled and very few people seem to have heard of it, yet. It’s like the world’s best kept secret. Plug “Ningaloo Reef” into Google Images, and brace yourself. It’s amazing.
But the land there can kill you in a dozen different ways if you don’t know what you’re doing out there.
So yes, I had to assure the beta reader that I really wasn’t exaggerating any of this for the sake of a good dramatic read. This stuff is still real and deadly, even today.
Review – Play With Me by Alisha Rai
Playing for a night…or for keeps?
Jewelry designer Tatiana Belikov may have matured enough to curb her impulsive nature, but wickedness is still her best accessory. When family troubles bring her to Las Vegas and face-to-face with the man who knows all her darkest desires, resisting temptation is futile. A night of no-holds-barred sin? Jackpot.
Once Wyatt Caine had nothing to offer Tatiana except his heart, but time has changed his fortunes. Now he’s the king of vice, and the king always gets what he wants. Especially when all he wants is her, all grown up and ready to play every dirty game he can devise.
They ignite like fireworks on the Strip, blazing hot enough to melt the best intentions. But their roll in the sheets turns into a roll of the dice, and when morning comes, Wyatt and Tatiana are left wondering whether to walk away…or go all in.
Game on.
This novella was flat-out dirty fun. As high school and college sweethearts, Tatiana and Wyatt explored everything together and learned to embrace their kinks. Now after 10 years apart, they still know what they want and how to give it to each other. Play With Me was pure sexual tension from the first sentence and it only got hotter from there. I loved both characters. It was refreshing to read about two adults who are happy with who they are. What they want isn’t wrong and they don’t waste time worrying about the opinions of others. According the end of the book, Tatiana and Wade will be getting another book soon and I can’t wait! Also, Alisha Rai should get the award for Most Creative Use of a Pen in Erotic Romance. If that award doesn’t exist, it totally should 😉
To be in the running, help me out…I’m in a reading slump so what are you all reading these days? Anything that I must get my hands on? 🙂
Gabe, Jace, and Ash: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They’re accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Gabe, it’s making one particular fantasy come true with a woman who was forbidden fruit. Now she’s ripe for the picking…
When Gabe Hamilton saw Mia Crestwell walk into the ballroom for his hotel’s grand opening, he knew he was going to hell for what he had planned. After all, Mia is his best friend’s little sister. Except she’s not so little anymore. And Gabe has waited a long time to act on his desires.
Gabe has starred in Mia’s fantasies more than once, ever since she was a teenager with a huge crush on her brother’s best friend. So what if Gabe’s fourteen years older? Mia knows he’s way out of her league, but her attraction has only grown stronger with time. She’s an adult now, and there’s no reason not to act on her most secret desires.
As Gabe pulls her into his provocative world, she realizes there’s a lot she doesn’t know about him or how exacting his demands can be. Their relationship is intense and obsessive, but as they cross the line from secret sexual odyssey to something deeper, their affair runs the risk of being exposed—and vulnerable to a betrayal far more intimate than either expected.
