Blue Rules 8-10-2013
Are you ready for the new season of reality television?  Blue has a nice life.  He’s got a job in public relations with a local production studio and a nice social life with some hot reality stars.  But then his father dies and his sister, Amber, blackmails him into working with her at the Dooley Foundation, their father’s life coaching business.  His social life grinds to a halt.  Now every woman wants him to fix her – and not in bed!  Along comes Maddy Polk, up-and-coming reality show producer, with an idea about a new reality show based on their work at the Foundation, featuring him as a matchmaker.  Who does Maddy want him to match up?  All his really hot, slightly crazy, reality show ex-girlfriends!  Trouble is, it’s Maddy who makes Blue hot and slightly crazy.

“I don’t know how you came to these…these erroneous conclusions about my brother, but you’re wrong.” Amber’s words fell weakly between them.

Sensing she was near victory, Maddy pressed on. “The Avengers launched the retail portion of their web site last week. Selling Avenger T-shirts and logo thongs means they’re in it for the long haul. There’ll be no escaping the gossip and subsequent damage to the Dooley Foundation if you don’t sever this at the jugular.” At Amber’s perplexed look, Maddy shrugged. “Another of Poppa Bert’s pearls.  It means you need my form of damage control.”

“Hello, ladies.” A deep voice. From behind her. And then a tall man with the grace of a dancer and the swagger of a model settled in the chair next to hers, unsettling Maddy’s pulse.

She’d never seen photos of Blue Rule in khaki shorts and a dark polo. He wore tuxes. He wore suits. He wore body hugging button downs. Regardless, he still didn’t manage to look like the guy next door.

Pitch anxiety returned, prickling her skin with nervous heat.

Blue Rule had the kind of looks that most women only saw on television and in fashion magazines – a long lean body, short crisp black hair that was never unruly, lips that quirked knowingly and dark eyes that seemed to penetrate your very soul with the promise of bone melting, I-just-met-you sex. Maddy imagined him reclining on a penthouse suite bed, the camera panning up his body, across all those very hard body parts, until it reached that smile.

   Did her mental camera have to shoot porn now? In the middle of a pitch meeting?

“I don’t think we’ve met. I’m Blue Rule.” He extended his hand. If Blue’s appearance inspired I’ll-do-whatever-you-want bedroom fantasies, his voice did not. Cool. Confident. Controlling.

To her credit, Maddy didn’t miss a beat as she introduced herself, thrusting her clammy hand toward him and shaking his hard, because there was only one reason for Amber to bring Blue into this – to confirm Maddy was not one of his ex-girlfriends.

Blue’s smile broadened like a hunter who had a deer in his sights.

And Maddy, who had always fled the mighty male hunters that prowled L.A., felt her anger rise like the fire that swept through Bambi’s forest, burning her anxiety to ashes. News flash: her kick-ass idea had legs that made these two Rules nervous. “Now that we’ve confirmed I’m not one of Blue’s Avengers, can we continue?”

DragonsHeart-800

Can you hear the dragon’s roar?

Over a thousand years ago Draakar was forced to leave Earth, now he has no choice but to return. The dragon lord, whose world teeters on the brink of destruction, must find his truemate. The one woman with the power and love fated to save them all. The woman he left behind.

Maya Trent was abandoned on Earth, apparently human but so much more and unaware of her dual heritage. Once Draakar awakens her dragon within all she wants to do is kill him. Yet they must work together to save mankind as well as the brethren. But first Draakar has to convince her that the truemate bond between them is real, as is his love for her. She just has to believe in him.

                     ~~*~~*~~

No insect, animal or bird sounds were ever heard in the center of the stones because all knew better than to venture into the circle of power. Even the wind only danced around its edge. Just before dawn, something changed. For miles around the stones not a creature stirred. They sensed something coming and were careful to give the area an even wider berth than usual. Only heavy fog moved across the mountains as a dragon lord from a time long gone glided slowly through the gateway and landed squarely in the center of the Stones.

Black talons dug into the rich soil and the humming sound emanating from the Stones changed to a fevered pitch, far beyond human hearing. (more…)

Their passion will consume everything—and everyone— in its path….

I’m on a train.

I don’t know which stop I got on at; I only know the train is going fast and the world outside becomes a blur. I should get off, but I don’t. The universe is playing a cosmic joke on me. Here I had my life—a good life with everything a woman could want—and suddenly, there is something more I didn’t know I could have. A chance for me to be satisfied and content and maybe even on occasion deliriously, amazingly, exuberantly fulfilled.

So this is where I am, on a train that’s out of control, and I am not just a passenger. I’m the one shoveling the furnace full of coal to keep it going fast and faster.

If I could make myself believe it all happened by chance and I couldn’t help it, that I’ve been swept away, that it’s not my fault, that it’s fate…would that be easier? The truth is, I didn’t know I was looking for this until I found Will, but I must’ve been, all this time. And now it is not random, it is not fate, it is not being swept away.

This is my choice. And I don’t know how to stop.

Or even if I want to.

In the popular Broadway show Wicked, two university roommates, complete opposites, end up becoming beloved friends. In one of my favorite songs from the show, Galinda and Elphaba sing a duet in which they both declare that they’re not sure if knowing each other has changed them for the better…but it changed both of them for good.

In Tear You Apart, Elisabeth and Will meet, strangers both viewing a piece of art that doesn’t impress either of them very much. From that first meeting, it’s clear the spark between them can’t be denied, no matter how much they might want to fight it. Right or wrong, and most people would say without a doubt that their relationship is wrong, Elisabeth and Will become lovers. Physical passion starts them off, but soon it’s much more than that.

Soon, there’s love.

The emotional connection changes what might’ve been a brief, torrid affair into something different. Something trying to become permanent. Elisabeth, caught in feelings she hasn’t experienced in a long time, maybe never, knows enough to try and stop herself from falling. But who can ever really stop themselves from falling in love?

BALLERINAANDFIGHTER

I travel through life dancing.

All I ever wanted to do was dance, as did my best friend. We’d made so many plans together, but one night an explosion changed it all. Only one of us survived, and I promised myself I’d succeed for us both. And I did, until an accident almost ruined my career, but Maze came back into my life when I needed him most. He pulled me out of the depths of my despair. But could I save him now?

I travel through life fighting.

It had always been Ivy; from the first moment I saw her leaping through the air like she had wings to lift her from the ground. But she was my dream, something I wanted more than anything else in my life. I promised myself I would stay away from her. Violence followed me everywhere and I tried to keep her far away from it. She was my point of illumination in the dark tumultuous world I lived in. But I could not stay away from her. Not when I knew she needed me. As much as I needed her. But could she accept me as I am?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I dropped both my girls off at college a couple of weeks ago. My oldest began her sophomore year of college my youngest her freshman year. It’s something we’ve all worked hard to make happen. Now they’re both happy and proud of their achievements, as am I. The first couple days they sent her pictures of their dorm rooms and we’ve texted and spoken almost every day. Thank God for technology. It’s the only way I’m coping.

My husband and I have raised our children to be strong and independent and taught and encouraged them to use the brains they were born with. And yes, while I am happy and pleased with their choices and accomplishments, it still doesn’t take away the fact that the doors to their rooms at home are open. They used to be closed because teenagers need privacy apparently above all else. Now I am able to go in at will, yet when I walk inside there’s no one there. Nor are they on their way home or will be home anytime soon. The sounds of silence and peace have invaded what once was a boisterous, noisy home. Yet for some reason I can’t hear myself think. I glance up ever so often for no reason. While I had no trouble blocking out noise, I find the silence deafening.

So I fill it with music and laughter and joy that I find within my mind and try to capture in my stories. I hope you enjoy them.

To find out what happened to her sister, Sherry just has to go with Mason Hayward to the ends of the earth…oh, and give him utter control over her mind, body and soul.
New York cop Sherry Abandonato cashes in her savings and dashes to Ningaloo in remote north-west Western Australia to find her sister who disappeared ten days ago.

The only one with the skill to guide her to Derremawan is Mason Hayward, once an official guide and still with a reputation for getting people out of trouble, but now the town’s bad man.

In a searing afternoon of unexpected passion, Mason strikes a bargain: He’ll get her to Derremawan, if she agrees to go there with him unconditionally, on his terms, and his conditions. Sherry is astonished to find herself agreeing to the insane bargain, and worse, responding positively to the idea of three days of Mason Hayward dictating terms out under the Australian sun…

Warning:  This story features multiple sex scenes, including anal sex, the use of sex toys and MF sexual play.  Do not read this book if frank sexual language and sex scenes offend you.

Ningaloo – The Deadly But Beautiful Territory

BeachTCPOne of the odd facts about writing that the Internet has made more convenient for writers, and at the same time a more open fact for readers, is that writers use “beta readers” – readers who love the genre but have no intentions of ever becoming writers themselves, who agree to read a writer’s work before it goes before an editor.  A beta reader provides essential early feedback to an author, and lets them know that they’re on the right track.  Often, the writer is just looking for reassurance that the book they’ve just written doesn’t totally suck.  J.  Sometimes they’re looking for more subtle information about characters, story turns and surprises:  “Did that come as a genuine surprise for you?  Did I cover it up enough?” and so forth.

I don’t always use beta readers, usually because they’re so damned hard to find, which may come as a shock to most readers reading this.  But authors are constantly looking for skilled beta readers and there’s never enough to go around.

However, I’m getting past the point I wanted to make (that’s me, Aussie loud mouth).

I do reach out to beta readers when I’m writing a story that is unusual or outside my normal genre, and in the case of Ningaloo Nights, I absolutely knew I had to use a beta reader to bounce off, because I had to make sure that all the Australianisms didn’t leave the mostly North American readers scratching their heads and going “huh?”  I’ve been having running arguments with the line editors for years over certain words and phrases that “aren’t real words,” that were real enough where I came from, but had to go because the line editors didn’t understand them.  But in this case, because the book was very deliberately about Australia, and featuring Australians in their native element, I needed to make sure it was still comprehensible to non-Australians.

But the single question that came back from the readers had nothing to do with grammar.  They all loved the book, understood everything in it and wanted to instantly pack for an extended vacation in the outback, preferably with a guide that looked a lot like Mason Hayward, the hero in Ningaloo Nights.

The single question I got back, though, was a puzzled and politely phrased disbelief.  “You don’t really have to be that careful about travelling around the countryside out there, do you?  Surely it’s not that dangerous anymore?  You just tweaked it a bit for the story, right?”

In the story, Mason takes great pains to conserve water, as they have to cart all their own water to and from Derremawan.  They also have to travel during the cooler parts of the day and into the night because it’s simply so hot that petrol will simply evaporate before it reaches the engine block.  But they can’t travel completely at night because they’ll miss the tracks that others have left in the dirt, that are the only markings that show the way to Derramawan, the remote location where Sherry, the heroine, needs to reach to find her missing sister.  Then there’s other precautions that include staying out of the sun to avoid sunstroke…and more that I can’t explain here without spoiling the story.

These are all valid and still viable safety precautions that every Australian traveller understands and uses in the more remote areas even today.  I learned them as a kid, when I was travelling with my parents — right around the Ningaloo area where Ningaloo Nights is set.  The fact is that the Australian country looks flat, dry and pretty uninteresting when you look at it in the hottest months of the year.  Nothing moves but the heat hazes, and the odd snake.  There’s not even any crocodiles in the west.  Too hot, too dry.

Yet Ningaloo and the reef is some of the most spectacular and still mostly untouched territory in the world.  It’s virtually unspoiled and very few people seem to have heard of it, yet.  It’s like the world’s best kept secret.  Plug “Ningaloo Reef” into Google Images, and brace yourself.  It’s amazing.

But the land there can kill you in a dozen different ways if you don’t know what you’re doing out there.

So yes, I had to assure the beta reader that I really wasn’t exaggerating any of this for the sake of a good dramatic read.  This stuff is still real and deadly, even today.

SHIFT INTO PASSION

This summer two exciting new shifter books in bestselling series hit the shelves. SHATTERED EMOTIONS, Book 5 in the Redwood Pack series & DIAMOND DUST, book 3 in the Takhini Wolves.

Carrie Ann Ryan and Vivian Arend have joined forces to bring you a few tidbits from their books. Take a minute, and we hope you enjoy!

The theme for this post?

First Kisses

Viv Arend: Let’s talk about 1st kisses. Not ours…our characters!

Carrie Ann Ryan: Let’s see. I was 13. The guy had braces… Oh.

Viv Arend: lol! Oh man, kissing with braces, THAT was fun.

Carrie Ann Ryan: In an “OMG that hurts” sort of way.

Viv Arend: Especially when you BOTH have them! Good thing our shifters don’t wear braces. What’s your favourite kind of 1st kiss for your characters?

Carrie Ann Ryan: For these two characters I wanted soft. They NEEDED soft. Usually I like them hard and against a wall without taking a breath, but Mad and Ellie needed soothing first.

Viv Arend: Yes, they totally did. That kiss was perfect for them! I find my characters always do the opposite of what I think they’re going to do. Like out of the blue that ‘about to consume you’ turns into the gentlest caress. Hmmmmm. 😀

Carrie Ann Ryan: I agree. At first I didn’t know if Maddox or Ellie would ever move on from softness. Boy was I wrong. *blushes*

Viv Arend:  Heheh. Blushing is good. I was surprised by Caroline and Tyler in that Tyler ended up being far more gentle then he seemed at the start. Love surprises like that

Carrie Ann Ryan: Oh yes! Though that Tyler. *whew* I loved how he turned out.

Viv Arend: …and Caroline loved how he turned out as well, so it’s all good! On to the kisses?

Carrie Ann Ryan: ‪Oh yeah.

Shattered Emotions

He was done talking, done with words and all that they meant. He needed to taste her, to feel her in his arms.

He ran a hand through her hair, loving the soft feel in his hands. She leaned forward but didn’t say anything, didn’t breath. Maddox moved closer, letting his lips barely brush hers, the soft feel almost his undoing. He moved his head side to side so their lips gently touched each other’s then pressed harder, loving the way she melted against him, her mouth parting ever so slightly.

He let his tongue barely trace her lips, teasing, testing, then opened her mouth farther, blending her moan with his own. He knew she needed softness, and he’d be the one to give it to her—even if it hurt to hold back.

Her mouth parted wider, and his tongue tangled with hers, their kiss deepening, their breath quickening. He pulled back, nibbling on her lips, moving his mouth along her chin to her ear. She turned her head to the side so he could nibble down her neck to the place where he’d mark her when they were ready.

He traced his lips back through his trail until he met her mouth, kissing her softly, wordlessly.

His wolf howled in pleasure, and he pulled back, cupping her face so he could look her in the eyes.

“Slowly,” he whispered, his voice shaky.

“Slowly,” she agreed, her lips partially swollen from his kisses.

Hell, slowly would kill him, but he needed to give her a chance to back out—something that would also kill him.

A promise meant nothing without the threat to break it up on its trail, and he wouldn’t let her hurt for him. They’d find a way to make it work.

They had to.

~~**~~

Diamond Dust

She turned in the doorway. “There we go. Safely home. Thanks for the lovely evening, and we’ll be in—”

He twisted her to the side and pinned her to the wall. Frustration, hunger—it all came together in one moment of need that had to be answered.

“Maybe it’s the fact you can take care of yourself that makes you so damn attractive.”

He wrapped one hand around the back of her head, the other at her hip as he kept her completely under his control. He caught her with her mouth open as he kissed her. A rush of excitement roared through him at her taste, and his bear finally settled in satisfaction.

She hesitated, and he wondered if his balls were in danger, then she thrust her fingers into his hair and dove wholeheartedly into the kiss. Tongues tangling, bodies pressed tightly together. She wrapped a leg around his thigh, opening her body to him. He used both hands to lift her, lining up their mouths better while easing his erection between her thighs.

Caroline groaned as his lips left hers, kissing his way along her jaw to her neck. The sound fluttered as he took hold of her earlobe and sucked lightly.

“How hard did I hit my damn head this morning?” Her muttered complaint was negated by the fisted grasp she maintained on his hair, holding him to her throat. She was nearly purring with satisfaction as he tasted her skin.

He licked, once, and her full-body shiver made the hair on his arms stand on end with the desire to take more.

To hell with restraint, he wanted to take it all.

How does an author get their characters from hate to happily ever after? You take two people who despise each other and by the story’s end, make them fall in love. If done well, it makes for a great read, but if the story is lacking it may come across as contrived or unbelievable.

So how do we get from that first angry meeting to the final kiss that means forever?

Here’s my take on the enemies to lover trope.

Conflict, it’s the bread and butter of the relationship. Could anything be worse for a hero than being forced into a life or death situation where you have no choice but to work with a person who you don’t think you can trust? Frustrating for the characters? Definitely. But what better way could there be to find out what makes our characters tick?

Intrigue and high stakes. How can these two characters standing on opposite sides of the fence, find a way to come together, not only as partners but as lovers? When I’m reading and the obstacles seem insurmountable I think it keeps my mind engaged. It keeps me guessing. How can they possibly overcome this and get to the happy?   I know it’s supposed to happen, but how? That curiosity keeps me coming back for more.

Chemistry. It’s one more ingredient I believe is necessary in the makeup of good romance. That fire in the blood, burning like an addiction that haunts you with every breath you take. It’s that magnetic pull drawing the characters back to each other again and again, despite their differences.

But there needs to be more than even the hottest chemistry. No matter how hot those sheets get, it’s not enough build a permanent foundation for a true HEA. In romance, that’s what we want in the end for the characters who, if the author has done them justice, we as readers have come to love. We need that HEA and want it to be a believable, sustainable relationship that lives on even after we read those final words. The end. In our hearts, we need to know that those characters we came to know and love like our own family will truly live Happily Ever After.

What elements do you think make up a great enemies to lovers story? Or do you have a favorite that you read again and again?

An Unexpected GiftKnown only as Lazarus to the band of cutthroats and thieves he leads, William Prescott will do anything to find his missing sister, even blackmail a fragile young woman into helping him. But he never plans to fall in love with this mysterious woman with a troubled past.

Haunted by the memories of war, Olivia St. Germaine wants nothing more than to live a normal life. But when her brother, a doctor, suddenly leaves town without a word, she is forced to use her medical knowledge to help an injured man who puts her life in danger. Can she keep herself safe as she tends Lazarus, or is her heart more vulnerable than she realizes?

~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~
When I first discovered romance novels in my late teens, I loved the books that had the “moody & broody” hero. While I enjoyed the lighter comedic stories, I was always drawn to stories where the hero was haunted in some way by his past. He could have been tortured by things he suffered through or by guilt or regret over things he did.
I don’t want to give the impression that romance novels inspired my infatuation with tortured heroes. It started long before then. When we were children (9 & 12), my brother would leave his X-Men comic books lying around and I would read them whenever I had the chance. If any of you are familiar with the Marvel comic book series, you know that a great number of the characters in the X-Men universe have haunted pasts. But the character I was drawn to the most was James Logan otherwise known as Wolverine. (This was, of course, long before Hugh Jackman first brought Wolverine to life in the X-Men movie. Although I’d be happy to just watch Hugh breathe, but that’s a subject for another post.)
For those of you unfamiliar with the character, Wolverine is tortured by a past he can barely remember, by the things he’s done, people he’s killed. And he’s killed a lot of people, but he will go out of his way to right a wrong or help an innocent. You could say he has his own moral code, and while he hasn’t always acted honorably and has done things that aren’t legal, he believes he did them for the right reasons or because of a sense of justice.
Once I learned there was a comic book just about him, where he was the main character and not a minor character among a cast of many, my allowance stopped being spent on Barbie and her various accessories. Instead I went to the comic book store with my brother and bought every issue of Wolverine I could get my hands on.  I collected the comics for years. I still have a number of them, all lovingly packed in acid free envelopes, in a trunk in the attic.
To this day, thirty years later, I can’t explain what it was about Wolverine that fascinated me. Could it be that he seemed like a knight in shining armor, tarnished though it was, to a young, impressionable girl? Or was it because he was haunted by all of the terrible things he did and lived the life of a loner? I can’t say for certain.
The strange thing is when I was writing my novella, The Muse, a secondary character named Lazarus showed up on the page very similar to Wolverine.  He was a loner, he was fiercely protective of the innocent, and he’d killed in the name of justice. After I finished writing The Muse, Lazarus lingered in my mind. Pieces of his story came out of nowhere, bits of dialogue, snippets of scenes. I knew then that I needed to write his story.
Perhaps reading all those comic books and romance novels with haunted heroes was a form of research in writing my own tortured hero, I just didn’t know it at the time.
Excerpt
“If you don’t leave, I shall have Jennings call the constable.” Olivia headed for the door.
“And how will you accomplish that?”
She halted in mid-step.
“Yes, I know there are no servants in residence.” Lazarus sauntered closer. “Did you play the benevolent mistress and give them the night off?”
Eager to keep him at a distance, she scooted around him and stood at the end of the bed. “What do you want?”
“What do you think I want?”
“Why don’t we dispense with the games, and you just tell me?”
Lazarus closed the space between them in two strides. He pushed her backward onto the bed. Olivia bounced against the soft mattress. She dug her elbows into the thick counterpane in an effort to scramble backward away from him.
Grabbing her ankles, he pulled her toward him in one quick jerk. He leaned over her. His hand closed over her hip, freezing her in place. The warmth of his hand burned through her clothes to her skin.
Feeling truly terrified for the first time since he’d announced his presence, she searched his gaze for some kind of sign this was all a great joke. No, it was no game. His eyes were as hard and cold as glass. “What do you want?” she repeated, her voice a near whisper.
“Stop asking questions about me. Forget you ever heard the name Lazarus.”
Dragonfly Kisses by Sabrina York
A Tryst Island Erotic Romance
Dylan Deveney has no interest in a wild fling. He simply wants a quiet place where he can try to forget a painful past and, barring that, drink himself to death. But when he catches a glimpse of his exquisite neighbor—in the buff—his passion for life reignites.
Cassie French can’t resist Dylan’s allure. From his scruffy beard to his earring to his intriguing dragonfly tattoo, she’s crazy about him. And sex between them is scorching. Everything seems perfect…until a tragedy from Dylan’s past threatens to ruin everything.
An Excerpt from Dragonfly Kisses
When they finished eating and bantering, a crackling silence fell. Cassie licked her finger and blotted up her crumbs. “Well,” she said. “I should probably be going.” She moved to stand.
“Don’t.”
One word, sharp, with a tinge of panic, froze her in place. She glanced at him.
“Please stay. I’ve…enjoyed talking to you.”
She forced a smile. “Lucy will be worried.”
“About me?”
She laughed. “About me. Poaching. We have rules about poaching, you see.”
“Poaching only counts on things you own. Lucy doesn’t own me.”
Cassie cleared her throat. “She wants to. And she has dibbs.”
He snorted a laugh. “Sounds like third grade. And, by the way, I thought Bella had dibbs.”
“They’re dueling over you.”
His expression sobered. “Do I get a say in this?”
She tipped her head to the side. “Have you met them? They can be rather…adamant.”
“So can I. When I want something.”
Her heart flipped. “You, ah, want something?”
“You know I do.”
Holy heaven. His gaze was steamy. It left no doubt about exactly what he wanted. But she had to ask. “W-what?”
He stood, balancing on one foot. “Come here.”
The thread of command, of yearning, in his tone snared her. She couldn’t ignore it. She rounded the table and looked up at him. This close, he was even more mesmerizing. And he smelled…he smelled delicious. His cologne teased her nostrils. Musky and woodsy and manly.
She stilled as he threaded his fingers through her hair and cupped her cheeks. And then his head descended.
His lips brushed hers. Just a soft, sweet buss, but it held a skein of promise, a hint of hunger and a tinge of desperation.
At her moan, he deepened the kiss, opening his mouth, pressing against her, consuming her. His taste, his essence, flooded her. Desire, wild and wanton, lashed her. Unbidden, a moan rose in her throat. He took it, swallowed it, gave it back.
He pulled her closer, flush against him. His body was hard and hot. Demanding. A trill of excitement rippled through her as she nudged the thick wedge of his erection.
Oh, she shouldn’t be doing this, kissing, consuming a man she barely knew like a lust-crazed wanton, but she couldn’t stop. And she kind of was. A lust-crazed wanton.
Something about this man curled around her sanity, her core, and sank in with needy claws. She’d kissed a lot of men in her life. But never a kiss like this.
He slanted his lips and took her from a new direction, molding his mouth over hers, teasing, nibbling, licking. She shuddered as his tongue dipped in. She met it with her own, then, unable to resist, gently sucked.
He reared back and stared at her. His eyes were rimmed with red, burned with desire. “God, Cassie,” he groaned, but didn’t finish the thought. As though he couldn’t resist, he kissed her again, but this time with a fiercer passion, one that made her muscles lock, her heart thud, her body melt.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, stroked his hair, then scored his scalp in a rake of need.
His fingers began to rove over her back, up to her nape, down her flank. He squeezed her buttocks. The pressure sent shudders through her.
And then, as he held her tight with one hand, the other skated to her breast, gauging her reaction as he gently cupped her. When she didn’t resist, when she wriggled impatiently in his embrace, he swept a thumb over her nipple.
Her body seized. Rivulets of pleasure washed through her, sending pings of absolute delight straight to her tingling clit. She couldn’t help it. She ground that nub against his hardness.
He growled.
Like the Highlander he was, he growled.
