Former child star Sara Wellens has hit a dead end in Hollywood. When she inherits half of a crumbling guest ranch in Crimson, Colorado, Sara figures she’ll sell her portion to get back on her own two feet and be back in the black in no time at all. No harm, no foul…right?
The one thing she didn’t count on was her partner-in-property, hunky former bull rider and single dad Josh Travers. Sara is surprised at how quickly she bonds with the charming cowboy and his daughter. But she insists that she’s definitely not looking for a forever family. Can the rancher and the starlet let down their guards to find their own Hollywood happy ending?

As a romance reader, I love books in a series. I have to admit, I especially enjoy when I discover a new (to me) author and can binge-read several series books in a row. It’s not great for the laundry or dust bunnies but is so much fun. Of course, it’s also a huge rush when a new book in a well-loved series that I’ve pre-ordered arrives.
As a writer, creating a new series is one of my favorite things. There’s so much potential to create characters, relationships, the town and the people who inhabit it. Sometimes when I’m working on one book, characters for the next one pop on the scene and I get to figure out who need the next story.
My latest release, A KISS ON CRIMSON RANCH, is the first book in a new series set in the fictional town of Crimson, Colorado outside of the real-life mountain town Aspen. I’m a born and raised Midwestern girl, but I’ve lived in Colorado for over twenty years. There are so many things I love about the mountains and the west. It’s been a great joy to add so many of my favorite Colorado details into the Crimson stories. There are three more coming in 2015 and I hope readers enjoy this town as much as I do!

I love it all, but I am rather taken with wild moors & gloomy manors right now.
Hi Mary – Funny that you mention gloomy because we’re having a rare rainy day where I live. An old manor is a perfect romantic setting IMHO. 🙂
I love small town settings. they seem to come with a bunch of characters that are a little quirky and add to the mix.
The quirkiness of certain small town characters is one of my favorite things too.
I love small town settings. I grew up in one, so the setting is familiar and comforting.
Hi Trish – Reading certain small-town set series make me wish I’d grown up in a tiny community.
Small town settings but I enjoy other settings as well 🙂
Hi Lori – I agree and a lot has to do with how an author handles the setting. 🙂
I don’t believe I have a favorite setting, to be honest. All I ask for is that the characters, their relationships, and the world the author builds around them, be realistic.
I totally agree that believability is key in whatever setting we’re reading.
I love them all. In the hands of a good author, any setting becomes my new favorite 🙂
Yes! It’s funny because a few years ago I never read any paranormal or dystopian set books. But once I found a few authors who I loved, those become some of my favorite books. Thanks for the comment!
Like others above, I don’t have a favorite setting either. Variety is the spice of life! I like small towns, big cities, beach communities, the west, Alaska, Europe, deserts, and anywhere else. I appreciate the WAY in which a story is told, and the setting is just a small part.
That’s very true, Laney. I love reading historicals and although I have no experience with Regency England, those authors can carry me away!
I love them all – but lately I have been reading and enjoying the small town settings.
Hi Pam – Well then I hope you like Crimson Ranch. 🙂 Thanks for the comment!
I am partial to small towns, ranches, the mountains and animals.
Oh, Cindy, you’re a reader after my own heart!
I like the small towns that also include ranches and mountain settings.
I like all settings. Small town setting are the best. Thanks for the giveaway.
I’m thrilled to be here, Victoria. I agree – I’ll take any setting in the hands of the right author. 🙂
Small towns in the west are my favorite.
I love small western towns too – so much character!
I’d love a story sited in a small beach community near a big city on the west coast. LOL ! I ltove each book I read in the setting selected by the author!
Hi Patricia – I’d love to write a beach community on the west coast – near a big city is a great idea too!
don’t really care about settings; care more about the story
My favourite setting, sitting near a river with my bestest friend, my husband and enjoying nature – going for a walk on a beach or walking through a forest with that someone special
