Hi All! Cynthia D’Alba here. Thanks to Fatin for having me on Novel Thoughts and Book Talk to celebrate the release of TEXAS TANGO, the second book in the Texas Montgomery Mavericks series. Here’s a little more about the book:
Texas Montgomery Mavericks, Book 2
Dr. Caroline Graham is happy with her nomadic lifestyle fulfilling short-term medical contracts. No emotional commitments, no disappointments. She’s always the one to walk away, never the one left behind. But now her great-uncle is gone and her grandmother is on her deathbed, more concerned about Caroline’s lack of a husband than her own demise. What’s the harm in a little white lie? If a wedding will give her grandmother peace, then a wedding she shall have.
Travis Montgomery has one dream left—to build the ranch he and his wife planned before he lost her to cancer. There’s just one thing standing between him and the last bit of acreage he needs—a last living heir who has one traveling foot out the door…and an unusual request that challenges his determination to never again place his heart at risk. The land he wants in exchange for a faux marriage. Everyone wins. Until things start to snowball…and the hearts they stand to lose are their own.
Texas Tango features Travis Montgomery, the oldest sibling of the Montgomery clan. Travis suffered the worst loss anyone can suffer—death of his spouse—when they were both only twenty-six. He’s comfortable with being a widower and isn’t in the market for a relationship, especially one that involves a long term commitment.
Caroline Graham, the heroine from Texas Tango, is a contract physician. She hires out her services for temporary staffing. Sometimes she might cover maternity leave, or a vacation or extended illness by a primary physician. Whatever the assignment, she goes, which keeps her with one foot out of the door at all times. She’s comfortable with that lifestyle…no commitments, no one wanting more from her beyond what is specified by contract. To mark each location, she buys a charm that represents where she’s been. Each charm is unique as she rarely returns to a past locale. Always moving forward. Never backward. Her charm bracelet is heavily loaded with charms but she hasn’t yet bought her charm for the contract that brought her to Whispering Springs, Texas.
Like Caroline, I have a charm bracelet. They are such a dated concept now. But mine is in my jewelry box and when I put it on and the charms clink together, I can barely suppress the smile. I can tell the history of every charm. Where it came from, why I have it, what it means. Readers always ask if authors put ourselves in our stories and my usual answer is no but Caroline’s charm bracelet serves a memory marker much as mine does.
I will confess to having a serious thing about jewelry. When I used to have the “day job” which required putting on clothes and leaving my La-Z-Boy recliner (unlike my current job, which requires massive coffee and pajamas most days), I wore a lot of jewelry. It was nothing for me to have on earrings, necklace, two or three rings, and five or six bracelets. Now that I think about WHERE I worked, I’m surprised I didn’t ever get mugged!
When I started thinking about this tour and prizes, I realize that many of us devoted readers have TBR piles that would topple if not for our digital storage. Gift cards are nice but thinking about how important the charm bracelet is for Caroline (and me), I decided to have some fun with a Texas Tango Release Tour Jewelry Giveaway. And I think I found some pieces you might enjoy adding to your collection. Here’s a look at the pieces I selected…
I’m using Rafflecopter for this tour giveaway, meaning you can enter multiple times on multiple days. The down side to Rafflecopter is that we are on a WordPress.com site and WP.com doesn’t play well with the Rafflecopter widget. Never fear! There is a “back-up” Rafflecopter widget you can use to do your entries. Follow this link to my Facebook author page and there’s the second widget for you.
Plus, check my personal blog today. There is another stop on the tour today and the Rafflecopter Widget might be there.
BUT that’s not all. From the comments left on this blog, I’ll select one person (using Random.org) to win a Western-Theme ornament. Take a peek at the selection. Now the problem I’m having is separating myself from them. They are all so cute!
AND I have refilled my coffers with freebies and sway, yours for the asking. But when it’s gone, it’s gone. Pens, jar openers, postcards, bookmarks, trading cards…just go by my contact page and send me a note telling me what you are wanting from my stash.
I just realized that you may not know me or have come across me on the internet. So here’s a little more about moi: I was born and raised in a small Arkansas town. After being gone for a number of years, I’m thrilled to be making my home back in Arkansas living in a vine-covered cottage on the banks of an eight-thousand acre lake. I started writing on a challenge from my husband in 2006 and discovered having imaginary sex with lots of hunky men was fun.
I love love love to hear from readers and there are lots of ways to find me. Online, you can find me most days at my website or my group blog.

I love the idea of a charm bracelet & always wanted one. Not too late to start.
Hi Mary! I think old fashion charm bracelets have been replaced by those slide bracelets with charms. Gosh…my brain is blank. I can’t think of the name but you know what I’m talking about, right? I remember that my kindergarten teacher wore a charm bracelet every day. I wonder if that’s where I fascination came from?

I have a charm bracelet also . In a box on my dresser-I have not added to it in years. It has mostly charms from trips to Europe. I love all your stories, am especially fond of Caroline-she is so conflicted. I suspect that I will like KC Montgomery too 😉
Thank you Jill. Maybe the street team would like to read the opening to Texas Fandango???
that would be yes !
I bought my daughter one a few years ago and put a yellow duck on it. Haven’t found anything else lately to put on it. But she loves hers. I hope you are having fun on this tour! See you Saturday! Lots of Hugs!
See you Saturday! Thanks for coming by and leaving me a message
Very cool giveaway ideas Cynthia! I have an Italian charm bracelet (the kind with the slides on it) but I rarely wear it. I’m just not much of a jewelry wearer, anything dangling drives me crazy!
I love jewelry but can’t wear bangle bracelets. I’d rather my bracelets and watch be very loose around my wrist. And to tell you the truth…it can be tough to find bracelets long enough to hang loose! I think your Italian charm bracelet is the replacement for the old fashion kind I have.
Thanks for coming by!
I love the idea of a charm bracelet. They bring back so many memories. Also, love the idea of your book.
Thanks Brenda! I hope you’ll give Texas Tango a try!
I’ve been hinting for two years straight I want a charm bracelet. Fingers crossed it comes through for me this year.
HAHA on the hinting! I swear…it never ever works at my house. Better to just go buy what I want and put hubby’s name on it! Good luck! Fingers crossed
I have a charm bracelet that my grandson saved his allowances to buy for me. It’s beautiful & so is he. I cried when he gave it to me.
Oh Sherry! That’s is such a sweet grandson! And I bet the smile on your face is wide when you look at it.
Love the sound of your book and I can’t wait to read it. I don’t have a charm bracelet, may have years ago not sure. Love the Christmas ornaments, they are so cute. Good Luck with your book.
Thanks Quilt Lady. The ornaments are awesome!
I adore jewelry of all kinds! I didn’t have a charm bracelet but my daughter wanted one, an expensive one with expensive charms. She didn’t get one!
Hi Mary! Thanks so much for dropping by! I bet your daughter wanted one of the new designs…the Italian slide charm bracelet. Those are lovely
i used to have a charm bracelet when i was a child and now i have a grandaughter i may get her one never to early to start your bling collection
I agree, Angie. Got to stimulate and develop those bling genes!
I love a charm bracelet. They are so much fun! I really am hoping to eventually start one for my daughter. I know we have the Pandora’s and stuff now, but I love the idea of having an old fashioned dangly charm bracelet.
Two of my daughters love charm bracelets. I’m not a big fan of any bling except earrings. I do enjoy wearing a lot of sterling silver when I wear jewelry.
Hi Lori. I’m a “gold” person. My niece and niece-in-laws are sterling silver. I think the younger crowd goes more for the silver than gold these days. And I AM a bling person! But not as much as I used to be. Now that I don’t have “day job” (meaning I stay in my pj’s most days!), I don’t dress up as much as I used to.
Hi Tina – I suspect old fashion charm bracelets will make another round of popularity…just not sure when!
I have a charm bracket, in silver, that was given to me on my 21st Birthday, but I have not worn it in years. I love earing and necklaces, and they don’t have to be shinny and blingy, just unique.
Hi, Cynthia! I had an old fashioned charm bracelet as a little girl and, when I had my own little girl, I gave it to her! My mom puts charms on it for all of her special occasions and she loves it!! It is a wonderful tradition!
