Beth Chase is too busy planning perfect weddings to worry about the lack of action in her own love life. But if she was looking for a man, she wouldn’t be looking at Colin Pratt. Her boss swears that Best Man Colin is a quiet scholar and science fiction writer who couldn’t possibly cause a fuss at his own brother’s wedding. He’s clearly never met the man in question. Snarky, sexy and more than a little inebriated, Colin is the final obstacle between Beth and the last perfect wedding she needs to make partner. Of course, when she helps him into a taxi at the end of the night she has no idea that he’s only just begun to poke holes in her professional exterior. Colin might have the skills to seduce a romance professional, but can he convince her that he’s the best man to share her happy ever after?

There’s a lot to love about weddings. I mean basically we’re talking about giant parties filled with friends and family celebrating love. Sure, sometimes the food is cold, the groomsmen are too rowdy, someone decided against an open bar or you’re stuck at a table with strangers, but when it comes right down to it—weddings rock.
Men in Tuxes. (Or suits or that super adorable thing where they wear jeans and vests.)I just love seeing guys all dressed up. I’m not a particularly fancy woman. For every day, give me a man in jeans, but once in a while it’s nice to them all cleaned up.
Flowers. There’s just something about flowers. For me, they mean life, love and new beginnings—everything a wedding should be.
Dancing. I love dancing. My husband…does not. But we have a deal. He has to dance with me under a few select circumstances and weddings are one of them. I also love to watch the bride and groom have their first dance, the bride dance with her father and the groom dance with his mother. And I’m a total sucker for the silly and elaborately choreographed wedding party routines.
Wedding dresses. I wish I could have a dozen weddings-there are so many beautiful dresses. I adore the simple ones and stare in wonder at the bejeweled bodices and cathedral length trains of the more complex designs.
The Kiss. That first kiss after two people have promised to stand by each other, to fall in love with only each other each and every day for the rest of their lives. That kiss always makes me cry.
Honorable mentions: Flower girls dancing with ring bearers. Almost too-pretty-to-eat cakes. Grooms reacting to seeing their brides (or grooms) for the first time.
As a wedding planner, Beth has seen the best and worst that can happen while two people are trying to tie the knot, but there’s nothing she would rather spend her life doing.
So what do you love about weddings? Tell me in the comment section.

Hi. Thank you so much for having me and The Best Man on Novel Thoughts and Book Talk! I’m so excited to share my new book with you all. 🙂
Ana, I love all your reasons for a wedding. What a way to celebrate a new beginning. Congratulations on The Best Man, it sounds like a fun read.
Thank you. 🙂
I love everyw about weddings. The clothes-dressing up, the tuxes the gown. I love meeting new and seeing familiar people. I love the food, the cake, the dancing, and seeing everyone have a great time. I also love seeing the love of on everyone’s faces and secretly wishing it was them up there cause I know that I sometimes feel that way. A good jealous.
It’s definitely a good jealous. 🙂 You’re right, people watching is great at weddings. Thanks.
I love the bridesmaid dresses. Some are great. Others…..
LOL. Yes. Either way they are entertaining.
Great post about weddings! I too love the flowers, music and the merging of two single lives into one. I am also a complete freak about wedding cakes – I love seeing how elaborate some people go and how some go very simple. I love the receptions just to see what people are doing – like a friend of mine did a chocolate fountain instead of a wedding cake – they had cake (angel food) at the fountain to dip in the chocolate…everyone loved it! Thanks for the giveaway
Yum. That sounds great. 🙂
Thank you.
I love hearing the vows, because they remind me of my own. But all of your reasons are great, too–I love weddings!
Ooh-yes. That’s another great part of weddings. 🙂
What a great post about weddings. I don’t usually go to weddings. Its just not my thing. Your book sound really good. Thanks for the great giveaway.
Thanks. I know not everyone loves making a big fuss, but I think everyone should have a special day that suits them.
I love the decorations, the clothing, the connection of two people and their families. The reception, seeing everyone have a good time.
🙂 Thanks. Receptions are so fun.
That special moment when the bride and groom say “I do” as a testimony of their love, faith and commitment in and to each other. That’s why I love weddings. Of course, the pretty dresses, music, flowers and cake don’t hurt, either.
That is the magic moment. 🙂 But yes-the icing doesn’t hurt. Thank you.
I love the little personal things that make it special to the couple – seashells at the place settings cause he asked her to marry him on the beach. Some goofy saying or poem that has meaning to the couple…
I especially love when a loved pet is invited and yep when the dog is the ring bearer and does something atrocious but later on is a memory that makes everyone laugh!
Aww. Yes. Pets can be so sweet in weddings…and also such a mess!
Thank you. I hope you stop by and enter the giveaway.
Congrats on The Best Man! I love the moment the bride walks down the aisle, I like the dances (couple’s first and the dance with the parents), I like seeing everyone having a good time, and I like seeing that the wedding cake is chocolate! 🙂
Thank you so much! Ooh parent dances are wonderful. I hope you stop by and enter the giveaway.
Like seeing the decorations
Decorations are nice. I wish I could come up a new festive decor theme for my life every month or so. 🙂 I hope you stop by and enter the giveaway.
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is required to get setup? I’m assuming having
a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100% sure. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
