There’s something about the beach and the ocean that pulls at me. Maybe it’s because I live in Oklahoma. There’s no beach in Oklahoma. There are lakes—lots of them. But a lake is not an ocean. There are no sandy beaches here, no planting yourself in a beach chair and staring at water that never ends.
I’ve taken a lot of beach vacations in my lifetime. I’ve been to Hawaii several times. I’ve been to Australia, and have spent several vacations in Florida. I’ve lived in California—both northern and southern, so I know beaches and oceans and I’m always happiest when I’m near the water. There’s something so calming to me about the waves and sliding my toes in the sand. Put a drink in my hand, stick me in a chair and plant me in front of the ocean, and I’m good for an entire day.
So when it came time to set up Riding To Sunset, the sixth book in my Wild Riders series, I knew I wanted to set it in Florida. Daytona Beach, exactly. First, it’s a biker’s haven. They have Bike Week there twice a year, so they’re accommodating to bikers. And second—the ocean, of course. I’ve made many trips to Daytona and I love walking the beach there. There are also great shops within walking distance of the beach.
Elena Madison is the heroine of Riding To Sunset, my novella in my newest release, Nautier and Wilder. She runs an art shop near the beach and lives above the shop because she, like me, loves the ocean, so she can step out on her balcony and listen to the waves crash against the shore.
Jed Templeton is the new guy in the Wild Rider group, and he’s tasked with a formidable operation—keeping watch over Elena, who is a very important to General Grange Lee, leader of the Wild Riders. Jed is charged with keeping Elena safe.
Jed loves the scenery in Daytona, both on the beach and what he finds when he meets Elena. Their chemistry is undeniable, and hot right from the start. But Elena is strictly hands off. She’s an assignment, and nothing more. But chemistry is one of those unavoidable things, as we all know.
I hope you all enjoy the beach, and Jed and Elena’s story in Riding To Sunset.
So here’s my question for you. Have you been to the beach, and if so, what’s your favorite beach spot? If you don’t like the beach or you haven’t been, just leave a general comment. The winner can choose any of my Wild Riders backlist books, in print or digital.

Oh I am like you. Put me in front of the beach and I’m as happy as a clam. Love taking beach vacations. Love the Outer Banks of Duck, NC and the beaches of Punta Cana, DR. absolutely two of my favorite beaches. Would love to visit Hawaii and check those out for myself.
I LOVE the beach! I seriously can’t understand people who would choose the mountains instead of going to the beach for their vacation. I love the waves, the blinding blue of the sky and sea, the sound of the waves rolling and the calm. I have two favourite beach spots: in Croatia where the sea is turquoise and the flowers fuchsia pink, and in Southern Spain in a desolate beach where it was calm, quiet and isolated.
I used to love going to the beach when I was a teenager and lived in Italy, I lived in a small town so I had to travel a bit, but it was beautiful and fun. I live in Philly now so usually when I go to the beach it’s Jersey, but I haven’t been in a long time. I’d love to go to Hawaii for a beach vacation. Thanks for the giveaway 🙂
Yes but I don’t have a beach sport favorite.
Oh, the beach… We had about 2-1/2 days of spring here in Michigan and now back to winter! I want beach days!!!! Around here we have the great lakes and no matter the time of year the water is always cold. Doesn’t matter, when it is warm enough, the beach is great. …dreaming about warm weather…
I live in New England so I have lots of access to the beach. Give me SPF 50, an umbrella, a cooler, and a book and I’m set for the day. Though I’m native to New England, a vacation to San Diego last year still resonates. Loved La Jolla and Coronado.
I am not a big beach person but I have been to tons of beachs ( Have a BFF that is a beach person) but my favorite beach was in Positano , Italy . It had black sand beach that were so pretty and you can see all the island of Capri. it was breath taking!
Go to the beach 3 times a year. Ocean Drive, Myrtle Beach is the best. It’s the capital of Shaggin on the Sand. Def a place to read steamy stories!!!!
I love the beach, sitting in the sun reading one of your books. I live in Miami so I go to the beach all the time! My favorite beach is literally 5 minutes away from my house.
My favorite beach spot is Daytona beach. I love it. Love the hot sand and the gentle waves of the Atlantic. Hawaii’s beaches are also great. I just love the beach and wished that I could live closer.
I love going to the Beach we are close to Panama City Beach Florida, the sand is so white and the water so blue. To walk on the beach at sunset it amazing….
I have been to the beach several times (FL) but I am more of a dock on the lake kinda person.
I used to live on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.(before it became a tourist destination). Miles and miles of pristine beaches, it was the perfect place to grow up.
I have never been to a beach, only lakes. Which I suppose will have to do for now. Because I love going boating every weekend in the summer!
When I was a kid, we used to go to Sunset Beach in South Carolina. I had a particular beach house that I liked and when it finally got too expensive for us to rent it, I was very upset. The next house we went to had a shuffle board in the driveway, though, so I was somewhat appeased.
I love in MA so Cape Cod is my choice beach destination- Old Silver, to be exact. That was where we always went as a kid, and it still holds the same feelings for me as it did then.
I live a couple hours away from the beach and we usually go a couple times a year. I grew up in the midwest and prefer lake or creek water and mud than salt water and sand, but I still have a great time. Last time we went, I just took a bunch of books and spent the day reading in the sun. That was nice. 🙂
I have only been to a beach one time and I loved it. Congrats on the release of your anthology.
The beaches in Destin, FL are great. Hope to get back there soon.
I went to the beach at Gulfport Mississipi once. The gulf was nothing I’d ever seen before so it was an experience I won’t forget!!
I’ve only been to the beach twice and both times in Florida and it was too chilly to really enjoy it! I do however, enjoy sitting by the pool and reading! I could do this all day long every day but, alas, work gets in the way! Looking forward to reading Nautier and Wilder!!!!
I lovvvvve Coney Island I know it’s not the best beach in the world but I’ve bee goin there since I was a kid!!! The best part was always the rides after the beach day was done I love that my husband loves coney as much as I do and we’ve had pretty romantic dates there and my children love coney as much as we do!! Anyways with sandy messing up coney I hope we can spend this summer there!!! Hooray to all beaches!!! Love them!
I like the beach, but only for about a day. When I plan to stay longer, I prefer the mountains. Walking in that cool, clean air is just wonderfull.
My favorite place is at San Luis O’Bispbo in Calif. My husband & I found the beach on a family vacation & always swore we would go back without the kids. Fate intervened & my husband died before we could return.
My favorite place by the sea is on a cliff above it when the sea is getting wild and throughing a tantram on the rocks and beach. I can watch it for hours.
Here it’s the same – we have a lot of lakes in the area, but no beaches. Therefore I have no favorite beach, I just love it when I have the chance to get to one and enjoy the feeling I get there 😀
Originally from New Mexico, I now live in Oklahoma. But hubby is from California, and we lived there a couple different places. So, yes, I have been to the beach — walked in the sand at Malibu many years ago, but my favorite place is really Cambria, CA and the coast there and up a little ways.
I’m not a fan of being on the beach, but i love being close enough to hear and watch waves. We’ve stayed at a friend’s condo that over looks the ocean, and it’s fabulous at night…very soothing. The smell and sound just are a perfect way to end the end.
Thanks for the chance!
I go to the beach EVERY year. I have been to so many beaches on the Atlantic, Pacific and the Gulf. My favorite beach though is Miramar Beach in Destin, Florida. The Gulf of Mexico is absolutely spectacular along the Emerald Coast. Destin is my little piece of heaven! Sunscreen, an umbrella, a great book, and a glass of sangria and I’m happy as a clam! 🙂 (Oh, and it’s illegal to remove live sand dollars from Florida waters. I found that out a few summers ago.)
I love the beach. I live in Oregon so our beach is rather cold most of the time…you do not swim in our ocean without a wet suit, lol. But my Dad and I used to walk miles of beach (all Oregon beaches are public) combing the sand for shells and agates. My favorite places are the rocks and tide pools that are speckled all over Oregon beaches. My favorite beach is Beverly Beach on the central Oregon Coast 🙂
Oh I love the beach I love to squish my toes in the sand it is a natural exfoliant. I love to sit under an umberla as I get really bad sun burn
Don’t really get to the beach much 😦 Think I need to change that this summer!
I love going to Myrtle Beach. It is so beautiful. I would love to read this series. It really sounds good. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love the beach & have been to alot of them. Jersey Shore, Jones Beach on Long Island, NY, Cancun, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, the Outer Banks, NC & gulfcoast of FL, which is my home state now. I find the beach a relaxing spot. I love to walk along the shore looking for shells. I especially fell in love with Trunk Bay on the island of St. John. I could see the nail polish on my toes, the water was so clear. Thank you for the giveaway!
Have been to the beach. Don’t have a fav one.
I do love sitting on the beach under an umbrella and reading which I guess is not a sport.
i grew up on the coast of Florida and i have always been close to a beach. I love going for walks on the beach with the sand between my toes and waves lapping at my feet. it is so relaxing to me. Probably my favorite West Coast of Florida beach is Pass-a-Grille in St. Petersburg (my husband’s is Clearwater beach) and my favorite East Coast of Florida beach is in New Smyrna Beach.
Got this one downloaded. Cant wait to read
I dont go the beach much any longer – used to go all the time as a kid and young woman – fav spot was field #4 at Jones Beach.
Now I only go when on vacation – last year went to one near Boynton Beach and in Santa Barbara.
My favorite beach spot is Cape Cod in Massachusetts but I love it off season in September/October when the weather is still mild but it is not crowded. I get to see local life.
I love the beach, but not when it’s too hot! I loved the beaches in Hawaii but it’s so far from the eastern US. This summer I’ll be back to the beach outsides Charleston SC – haven’t been back there in about 14 years.
I do love the beach–there’s something amazing about being able to sit and watch the waves! I don’t have one favorite spot though–it’s been a while since I’ve had the luxury of enjoying a lazy day on the sand!
I love going to the beach! It’s been a while since I’ve been, last time I think was in Seaside Oregon, but it was so relaxing and very memorable
