When friends turn to lovers, anything can happen…
A mistress should never be foolish enough to fall in love with her protector, nor trust him with her financial future. Mariah Desmond did both, and now her dearly departed protector has left her with nothing.Forced to seek another protector, she’s determined that this time, she’ll lead with her survival instinct—not her heart. But when she attends one of Vivien Manning’s infamous parties, the familiar face of her late lover’s best friend throws her for a loop.
A painful past taught John Rycroft that he’s not fit to be anyone’s knight in shining armor. His soft spot—make that a hard spot—for Mariah is precisely why he’s kept his distance. Yet the sight of her flirting with a bevy of men vying to become her next lover makes something inside him snap.
As John hauls her bodily away from her suitors, Mariah’s indignation melts away in the heat of the sizzling sexual chemistry. She quickly finds it isn’t easy to navigate John’s stormy emotional waters. Especially when his abusive father’s quest to get his son back under his thumb puts her life in danger.

Hi everyone and a big thanks to Fatin for allowing me to come and blog today! This week I had a new book out, FOR DESIRE ALONE . It’s the second in my Mistress Matchmaker series, which started in June with AN INTRODUCTION TO PLEASURE. The third, HER PERFECT MATCH comes out on March 5. In FOR DESIRE ALONE, my heroine Mariah Desmond is a mistress who has just lost her protector to a devastating accident that took his life. Left destitute, she has no choice but to look for a new lover. But she is drawn to her former lover’s best friend, John Rycroft. Only he has secrets that could destroy them both.
I figured since Mariah’s book just came out, she might have something to say to potential readers.
JM: Mariah, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Mariah: Certainly, though I’m not entirely convinced what it is that I’m doing.
JM: You are blogging. Well, I’m blogging, you are taking part in an interview.
Mariah: As in, to take a post? Oh, you misunderstand, I’m not looking for employment at present. Though I am searching for something. And what exactly is a blog? Is that like a bog?
JM: Er, not exactly. People just want to know a bit about you, about your story. You say you are looking for something, what is it?
Mariah: It may not be entirely appropriate to say.
JM: Try us.
Mariah: Very well. I am not ashamed of who and what I am. I am currently looking for a lover. Does that shock you?
JM: Considering that I wrote you… not really. But tell us more.
Mariah: I beg your pardon? Oh well, you are very confusing. And you are wearing some sort of short trouser, which I don’t understand, either. But the point is, yes, I am looking for a lover. My previous one left me a bit in the lurch you see, even after promising me he would make arrangements so that I would never be forced to be anyone else’s mistress. But my friend Vivien, a very successful courtesan, did say that I cannot trust a man. Although my old friend John Rycroft is different.
JM: Your friend.
Mariah: Yes, we’ve known each other for a very long time. And I will admit, in confidence that there has always been an attraction between us. An attraction we cannot deny.
JM: Sounds delicious.
Mariah: Oh yes, very much so. But even if I abandon myself to that desire, I can’t stop looking for a protector, can I? After all, this is my life. My future.
JM: It sounds like a conundrum, indeed.
Mariah: *sighs*. Yes, but I do intend to enjoy every moment of the affair while I can.
JM: I certainly would. And if readers want to pick up your streamy story, they can find it now at any online retailer.
Mariah: What?
JM: Never mind.
