There’s a place where the ocean meets the shore, where kicking off your shoes and baring some skin is as natural as sneaking under the boardwalk for an ice cream cone and stollen kisses.
But life isn’t all beach for Shaye Cates, even if her idea of an office is a shady umbrella at the water’s edge, equipped with cell phone and lap top.
Trace Saunders is her upstanding, button-down albeit handsome nemesis. He thinks only of business.
A century-old feud has separated their families. Yet a volleyball tournament and kids’ baseball games draw them together. Beneath the twinkling lights of the ferris wheel, the magic of sea and sand soon sweep away their rivalry.
Suddenly it’s summertime…and the lovin’ is easy.

I appreciate the opportunity to blog today. May 1st was the release of Sweet Spot, the final book in the Richmond Rogues’ Baseball Series. May 29th is the publication date for the first book in my new Barefoot William Series. It’s bittersweet. Out with the old and in with the new.
I think an author should end a series on a high note. Over the past five years the Rogues became ‘my team’. The guys had a great run. I loved the players and did my best to find each one a worthy heroine. Psycho McMillan was my favorite character. He was a wild man and very vivid in my mind. The team became as real to me as the Cubs, Yankees or Red Sox. I may do a novella down the road, but I’ve no immediate plans for a second generation of ballplayers.
Now I move on to No Tan Lines. First you had the Capulets and Montagues, then the Hatfields and McCoys, and now there’s the Cates and Saunders of Barefoot William, a fictitious beachside town in Florida. The Cates and Saunders live at the opposite ends of a boardwalk in cold disdain over a hundred year old feud.
Shaye Cates is a natural beauty, happiest in shorts and flip-flops. She runs her family’s faltering business from under an umbrella on the beach. Trace Saunders is rarely seen without a suit as he manages a dignified and profitable real estate empire in a traditional office.
A volleyball tournament that straddles both sides of the beach forces them to work together, and instant sizzle leads to eventual romance, despite the disapproval of both families.
I’d like to give away a $25.00 Amazon digital gift card in a random drawing. Fatin will notify me as to the winner. Happy Summer Reading, Everyone!

Congratulations on your release! Ending a series can be so bittersweet. I need to get me a copy of No Tan Lines
Hello Nikki! I love sports, so I will miss the Richmond Rogues. I also love the beach and sunshine – Barefoot William is my locale for a while.
Congrats on the start of a new series and this book release! I love to see feuds end with love! Really enjoying the sound of this book!
Colleen – I also like feuds! Especially as the one between the Cates and Saunders is over 100 years old.
Congrats on the new book! 🙂 You’re a new to me author (hard to believe with all I read, I actually miss some authors!), but definitely like the sound of the baseball series… and a feuding group that has a guaranteed happy ending (the big problem with Romeo and Juliet… LOL)
Lois
Lois – I went three years between books when I changed publishers. I don’t have that many books to my name. I hope you enjoy the Rogues and/or No Tan Lines.
Congratulations, Kate. There is just something about the joys of summertime that tends to uncomplicate things, and lets us shake off the adult cares and worries.
I live in Florida, so ‘summer’ is pretty much all year round. There’s something about sunshine that makes me feel ‘alive’! We all need to shake off problems/situations and relax. I agree with you.
Shaye sounds like me. Happy in her shorts and flip flops. A no nonsense kind of gal. 🙂 Congratulations on the release of this new series. I hope you have a great success with it! 🙂
Thanks! Shorts and flip flops have always worked for me too.
This sounds like a perfect read for summer. I’m a big fan of beaches and family feuds always make for interesting situations between the lead characters. I’ll have to check this out.
Appreciated, JenM. I love beaches and boardwalks. That’s the setting for No Tan Lines. A good feud makes life interesting!
Congratulations on the books! The series sounds intriguing.
bn100 – have a great summer!
I need a job where I can work on the beach under an umbrella!
A shady umbrella and a laptop at the shoreline works for me too!
Congrats on the new release, Kate. I’m a fan of your baseball series and sad to see the series end, but excited about your new Barefoot William series.
It’s very hard to say good-bye to my Rogues. Never say never! Maybe I can do a novella or short story down the road.
Sounds like a good book. I always hate to see a series end. But like looking forward to the new ones.
I hope you enjoy the Barefoot William Series!
This sounds like a great update of Romeo & Juliet. And the beach is a great setting. I have not read any of your books but this one does sound really good. I would love to be able to be on the beach all the time too.
I hope you can read No Tan Lines! There are so many wonderful beach books out this summer.
Congrats on the new series. Sounds like a great beach read!
Thanks, Vanessa!
This looks like the perfect series for reading at the beach. Congratulations! And thank you for the giveaway.

I would love to read this book. It sounds very good. Please enter me in contest.
Congrats on the release! I can actually see myself reading this at the beach! I will confess that I hate the beach but my family drags me there once a year and I dutifully sit under the canopy and read the whole day away! Thanks for the giveaway.
Love the title and cover of this book. This is a new author for me. I love to read and always looking for new books and authors to check out. Thanks for the fantastic giveaway.
Congratulations on the new release! I always love to see feuds end – I was really mad about Romeo and Juliet when I read it in high school, lol!
Sounds really good! I don’t think I’ve read her before. I will have to check this one out.
Congrats on your new release! Sounds great! I love a good feud in a story, especially when in draws the characters together. They definitely straddled that love/hate line. 🙂 Thank you for sharing this with us! Wishing you all the best!
This looks like the perfect summer read – I can feel the sand between my toes already!
I already have NO TAN LINES on my wish list. A century old feud sounds wickedly delicious!!
Congrats on your new release!
A century old family feud and working from the beach? I’m so there!
Congratulations on the new series! Feuds are fascinating since people have such strong emotions about them.
I’m going to miss the Rogues baseball series, I loves them! I have recommend a friend who is baseball fan watcher to read Rogues. She is reading book 1 and told me so far she enjoy it 🙂 Congrats on your release of No Tan Lines!
Kate…congrats on the new the release and I have already added it to my must buy list. It is always sad to see a series end…were you sad to let this one go?
Congrats on the new release. This book sounds amazing. Can’t wait to read it.
Love the sound of this book. I’m retired but hell, I’d come out of retirement if I could have that beach office too! Congrats on the new release. The entire series sounds yummy good.
The book sounds great.
Combats on the new release. Really enjoyed your baseball series and can’t wait to read this one as well
Oops, writing this on my kindle with my fat fingers. I wish you congrats and not combats lol
This book sounds so great. Congrats on the new release. I love books that take place near the water. And the fued between the two families sounds fun to read!
Loved your baseball series and looking forward to the new series.
I was just introduced to your books this year Kate and I so want to read more of them.. They are great stories. and I love books about hunky athletes.
The cover just brings Summer to me. Everything from the sun to the title. I like stories that looks at love under the sun because it can be a hectic and yet fun time.
It does sound like the perfect summer book for me 🙂
Kate, I’ve been happily following the Richmond Rogues for a long time now and agree that it’s bittersweet that the last book is out! So happy it’s been released and that you’re on to the next series, but I’m a little sniffly too 🙂 Congratulations!
Kate,
I just finished The Sweet Spot and No Tan Lines this month. They were both awesome but now I probably have a long wait for the next one. Oh well…I know good stuff is coming, in the town of Barefoot William. I only hope the volleyballer’s story is next and we can see the town mellowing out from their Hatfield/McCoy type feud.
You’re one author that is on my “BUY IMMEDIATELY” list. Thanks for the stories.
This sounds like pure fun, thank you for the guestpost. I have put the book on my wishlist.
