Sierra Falls, California, is one of those sleepy towns that people choose to leave. Sorrow Bailey chose to stay behind and run the struggling family lodge, but has always yearned for more. Things look up when she discovers a collection of letters from her three-times great grandmother and namesake, telling the story of a forbidden love affair.

Billy Preston is the new sheriff, a widower escaping the grief of his former life. He helps out after an accident at the Bailey lodge, and what begins as admiration for Sorrow’s quiet strength quickly becomes more. When Sorrow’s discovery brings fame to Sierra Falls and her dreams of a better life are within reach, one too many “accidents” have Billy wondering whether someone is willing to kill to keep them off the map…

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be here, talking about my latest book, SIERRA FALLS. Big thanks to Fatin for having me!

People talk about writing the “book of their heart,” and that’s the experience I’m having with my SIERRA FALLS books, a new contemporary series set in a fictional small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

I’ve published books in several other genres, beginning with time travel, then on to Scottish historicals, and my current young adult “Watchers” series. And though I’d never thought I could write contemporary romance, the seed was first planted back when I was writing my time travel series. I always really enjoyed crafting the different modern heroines, but honestly, at the time, writing without doing copious historical research felt like a guilty pleasure!

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and with my husband’s family in the Tahoe area, we make frequent visits to the mountains. Living in the city, I’d never considered myself much of a nature girl, but the Sierras have become so close to my heart, it’s now my dream to live there full-time someday. Whether we’re spending time outdoors or visiting our favorite little coffee shop, I find myself taking deeper breaths when I’m there. Smiling wider. Taking time to look at the blue sky, savoring the clean pine-scented air, or chatting with some of the wonderful people who make their home there.

I think I actually yelped out loud when the world of SIERRA FALLS hit me. We were headed up a mountain, my husband at the wheel, jammed in the car with our two kids and two big dogs. I was thinking, oh, I wish we just lived here now. Then I thought…what if I did the next best thing and set a series of books here?

And so SIERRA FALLS was born. I sincerely hope the mountains find a way into your heart as they did mine.

It’s clear from my books that I enjoy different genres. How about you? Do you enjoy reading across different genres? I’ve got three autographed copies of SIERRA FALLS to give away, so please say hi and let me know!

I’d love to see you online, too!
