I’m so honoured to be on Fatin’s blog today. Thank you.
All my heroes need a healthy dose of redemption and Daniel Fox is no different. My latest release, EDGE OF SURVIVAL, features a disgraced former British SAS soldier turned Canadian helicopter pilot. At the beginning of the book he’s in a very bad place and does some things some romance readers might not forgive him for. But I hope it’s obvious that the moment he meets the heroine (Cameran Young) he’s profoundly affected by her and desperate to escape the complications he knows are going to follow.
Cameran Young suffers from diabetes and I was interested in how someone who had to be so thoroughly organized and regimented in order to survive could fall in love with someone so high risk, who lived life with such a blatant disregard for personal safety.
By the end of the story he’s willing to sacrifice the only thing that has mattered to him since he left the Army—flying—along with his freedom and the one chance of happiness with the woman he loves, because he knows she’s in very real danger.
What would you sacrifice for love?

Dr. Cameran Young knew her assignment wouldn’t be easy. As lead biologist on the Environment Impact Assessment team, her findings would determine the future of a large mining project in the northern Canadian bush. She expected rough conditions and hostile miners—but she didn’t expect to find a dead body her first day on the job.
Former SAS Sergeant Daniel Fox forged a career as a helicopter pilot, working as far from the rest of the human race as possible. The thrill of flying makes his civilian life bearable, and he lives by his mantra: don’t get involved. But when he’s charged with transporting the biologist to her research vessel, he can’t help but get involved in the murder investigation—and with Cameran, who awakens emotions he’s desperate to suppress.
In the harsh and rugged wilderness, Daniel and Cameran must battle their intense and growing attraction while keeping ahead of a killer who will stop at nothing to silence her…
My heroine has diabetes and I’m donating 15% of my royalties to diabetes research.

Toni’s Biography:
Toni’s a former marine biologist who conducted her Ph.D. at the Gatty Marine Laboratory in St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland. She was born and raised in the U.K., but now lives in the Canadian prairies with her husband and two children, living about as far from the ocean as possible. Her stories are set in the stunning locations where she’s been lucky enough to live and work—the blustery east coast of Scotland, the remote isolated mining communities of Northern Labrador, the rugged landscapes of the U.S. and the Red Center of Australia. She escapes the long brutal Canadian winters by writing Romantic Mystery and Suspense stories.
Check out her website for a list of current titles, her blog and Facebook Author Page for writing news and her personal Facebook page and Twitter for constant nonsensical chatter. She is also part of a wonderful group blog—Not Your Usual Suspects. Come introduce yourself.

The book sure sounds interesting, I like learning new things about animal life and such. And to have a heroine with diabetes is a daring thing to write about.
What would I give up for love? That is a very difficult question. Does true love really requiring giving up something? I love reading, am really addicted to it, and to buying books. I know I have to start spending less on my books, but that is really difficult. To give it all up, no, I can’t do that. Not even for love. Because when love ends (see divorce statistics) I still have my books and love of reading.
Jen B–good luck and thanks!
Chris Merritt–thanks for all your kind words 🙂 I’m glad you liked STORM WARNING 🙂 and anyone who buys the book is making a difference, so thanks to the readers.
Aurian–I love writing about animals 🙂 Hard to do in suspense books but…I try.
I’m sad that you think in terms of love ending. Divorce stats don’t tell the whole story. My parents and hubby’s parents both celebrate 50 years of marriage next year. Happy marriage. My dad gave up his army career to be there for his family. My parents-in-law gave up their homeland to find somewhere peaceful to raise their kids. I can’t imagine living in a world that demanded you give up books for love. Reading is a joy everyone should have. Everyone. Enjoy your books 🙂
Toni, congrats on this latest release–it sounds like a great story! As for what I’d be willing to sacrifice, it’s hard to say! I do think that most long-term relationships end up requiring some sacrifice on the part of both parties. It may not be as huge as moving to different country or giving up an organ, but that giving is a part of showing love.
This sounds like a great read. Thanks for the giveaway!
