Hi and thanks for having me here today to share my debut novel, Jennifer’s Garden. It’s a contemporary romantic women’s fiction that epitomizes the showdown between a career woman’s criteria for the perfect husband and what true love means.

In a race against time, Cardiologist Jennifer Hamilton is caught between her mother’s dying wish and taking the risk of a lifetime with Jackson Montgomery. He’s the man hired to complete the landscaping for her new home—the venue for her upcoming wedding. Jackson’s everything she never wanted in a man, but as the job progresses, his lure pulls strong. It’s an attraction she cannot deny.

And one that puts her career on the line.

This book began as a mother’s inspiration. I wrote it for my daughter as my way of connecting her to a woman’s life lessons (though at age eleven, she’ll need a few years before she’s allowed to read it!). With one divorce under my skirt, a marriage and two kids wrapped in my arms, I wondered how not to repeat this mistake, as well as how to best counsel my daughter on the same.

Was this even possible? Marriage is hard. Expectations are changing. Today’s independent career woman is faced with tough choices. As more and more women assume the role of primary breadwinner, how does she choose a partner? Over chips and dip or stocks and bonds? Does a man’s job title matter? Do they begin as friends?

It can be a difficult call. One that challenges my current heroine, Jennifer Hamilton. Does she choose the man who proves compatible with her lifestyle, or the one that fits her true nature? It’s a question more and more women must answer for themselves. How about you? How did you choose YOUR husband?
