Rowan Summerwaite is no ordinary woman. Physical vessel to the Celtic Goddess Brigid and raised by the leader of the Vampire Nation, she’s a supercharged hunter with the power to slay any vampire who violates the age-old treaty.
A recent string of murders has her at odds with Las Vegas’s new Scion, the arrogant and powerful Clive Stewart. The killings have the mark of Vampire all over them, and Rowan warns Clive to keep his people in line—or she’ll mete out her own brand of justice.
Though her dealings with Clive are adversarial to say the least, Rowan is intensely aware of her attraction to him. But she can’t let it distract her from her duty—to find and battle the killer before more women die.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Goddess with a Blade a couple of months ago and I was so excited when I finished reading it. I couldn’t wait to tell everyone how much I enjoyed it. I had notes on the storyline, how bad-ass and snarky Rowan was, the hotness of Clive, the fascinating secondary characters that I want to know more about, and a list of my favorite quotes.
Unfortunately, when I was ready to start writing the review, I discovered all my notes had been turned into mini paper airplanes by my children. Add in some dental surgery and I didn’t have time to do a reread.
Since I can’t tell you all the reasons I loved this book, I’ve decided to let you find out for yourself. We are giving away two digital copies of Goddess with a Blade. I’ll be gifting them from Amazon or ARe, winner’s choice. To be entered, just tell me why you want it. Or ask any questions you might have about it, as long as it’s not spoilery 😀 Good luck!
Thanks for your non-review! It still sounds as if you really enjoyed the book and that’s all I like to know! The cover looks great and I love paranormal stories about vamps… so I’d love to win one of the e-books you’re giving away. (AND, thanks for the giveaway!)
I hope your dental procedure went well!
I really enjoyed the excerpt of this on Lauren’s website and it sounds as if you enjoyed the book. Can you tell us a little about one of the secondary characters that you enjoyed so much?
Kids are amazing aren’t they? They always seem to get their hands on the stuff you want to keep and ignore the stuff you wouldn’t mind them having 🙂
I also hope your trip to the dentist went well!
Thanks Michelle!
I think the one that interested me the most is Theo, aka The First. He’s Rowan’s foster father and head vampire. He’s not a “good” guy and he’s done some horrible things but he truly loves Rowan.
Even better! It’s a testament to the writer when a ‘bad guy’ has you intrigued despite their previous actions. It doesn’t happen often enough. This one just soared up my tbr! Thank you 🙂
Thanks for the competition.
I’d love to read this book as everything written by Lauren Dane is simply AMAZING! 🙂
I want to read it because it Lauren Dane of course. But aside from that I’m totally intrigued. It sounds different and exciting. And really how many times do you read the blurb and can feel the excitement and intensity?
This book looks so good. I haven’t read any of Lauren’s books before but I have quite a few on my wishlist. I really want to read this book because I have a love for vampires and I love to see how authors put their own spin on them. Thanks for the giveaway.
*smooch*
I would love a copy of Goddess With A Blade. Sounds amazing. I love Lauren’s writing.
I love anything by Lauren Dane. I love stories with a mixture of gods/ goddesses and anything supernatural. This looks like an amazing read.
I have not read anything by Lauren Dane but is sounds like a great read. Thank you for he giveaway:-).
This sounds like a really really good book with a unique twist on vampire hunters and I would love to win it.
I really want this book. It sounds very good and I love reading about vampires. Please enter me in contest. Tore923@aol.com
How well do your kids make paper airplanes? I am so totally lame at it that my kids don’t seem able to get the hang of it al all.
Dental surgery – ouch – so sorry.
I am happy NOT to know any of the specifics; your reviews are spot on – that it is enough to want to grab up the book ;}
all my best to you and your little pilots!
They make up for their lack of skill in sheer quantity. There had to be at least 60 planes made by the time I caught them.
I want to read it because I love anything by Lauren Dane and besides I want to know what kind of stuff was written on those paper aeroplanes 😀
Having never really read anything by Dane this book really caught my attention and notice. Hearing that the heroine is snarky and bad ass only made me want to read it more. I tend to relate more with strong heroines like that.
Gotta love how creative kids are!
As soon as I saw the word Celtic, you had my attention… after reading the blurb you now have me very curious about this book!
Hmm, being possessed by the Celtic Goddess Brigid sounds interesting, and kind of new to me. I just read the Iron Druid book 1, in which she has a part as well. I wonder, how much of her comes through in the story?
And yes, after just winning a book, I still want to win another one 😉
This was my first intro to Brigid so I’m not sure how close Lauren stayed to traditional mythology with her but there is quite a bit about her in the book. Rowan takes a trip to Europe for Imbolc and it talks about some of the traditions.
I figured why not try…*S*
Been wanting it since I first saw it, and put it on my gotta have asap list.
Love her books, and adore her characters and plots.
Thank you for the giveaway!

I would love this book because I have never read anything by this author. I am always looking for new authors or books to read and you guys give great recommendations.
My question would be is this the first book of the series? or are there others?

I am a huge Lauren Dane fan, so I am excited that this book has been released. Of course, I would love to get my hands on it! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Rowan, she’s the reason I want to read this book. Of course, having Lauren Dane as the author just makes it all that better.
because Lauren wrote it and I don’t think that there is one of of her’s I haven’t read. Sounds like an excellent story. And the cover rocks.
[…] Lillie is giving away TWO copies of GWAB at Novel Thoughts as well… […]
OMG, this sounds like a great read. I have yet to read anything by Lauren Dane and I know I’m missing out on something amazing. I love finidng characters who are so opposite but are drawn to eachother regardless even though it’s the last thing they should want. I would love love love to win this and get started on Lauren Dan’es books. Thanks for the chance
This book sounds fabulous– that’s why I want it! 🙂
I don’t know how I missed this post. I check this site everyday. I just love the postings here. Why do I want a copy? Well, I love Lauren Dane’s books. I love UF. And the two together should be way excellent.
I love Lauren Dane’s writing, I am working on getting all of her books.
Love UF and love Lauren Dane so the two combined is great news.
I love Laure Dane’s books and this book is at the top of my wish list.
