I’ll be the first to admit that I have a habit of getting stuck in a reading rut. I have my list of auto-buys I stick to and I don’t search out new-to-me authors. Even when a trusted friend tells me that I will love an author, I hesitate. And when I finally give in to pressure, I open the book with a sense of dread. I expect to be disappointed. It’s not fair of me, but there it is.
I guess that last paragraph should all be in past tense because over the last 6 months, things have changed. I’ve started reading so many new-to-me authors. I don’t know what changed but I’m grateful it did!
As 2010 draws to a close, I wanted to share my favorite new-to-me author of the year but I can’t choose just one! So my favorite TWO new authors of 2010 are Vivian Arend and Dee Tenorio. (Now I have to wait on Fatin to say “I told you so”)
Have you discovered any new-to-you authors this year? Any I need to add to my TBR pile? 😀
I have a lot of new to me authors I discovered this year. I think more than my regular go-to auto-buy ones. Some I’ve discovered in 2010 are Laura Griffin, Maya Banks, Cynthia Eden, Karen Marie Moning, Leah Brammel, Nancy Gideon, Kresley Cole and I’m sure there are more lol! I have an e-book by Dee Tenorio I’m hoping to get to soon and maybe she’ll be on my list for 2011. Here’s to finding more awesome new authors!
I’ve heard so many great things about Moning. Guess I should give her a try!
I have to do my post soon but first, I have to do this… I TOLD YOU SO!! lol
2010 was a great discovery year for me. I found Sarah Mayberry, Pamela Clare & Victoria Dahl. They are all on my must-buy list!
I’ve read Lead Me On by Dahl. I really enjoyed it.
My favorite new authors for 2010 are Carolyn Crane and Jennifer Estep.
I haven’t read either of those yet. More to add to the list!
Awww, Thanks Lillie! That’s such a lovely compliment! (And I think a first for me as a favorite new-to-you author, so merry Christmas! LOL!)
Gonna sit over here and smile for a few days. 🙂
Hugs,
Dee
Not the first….I listed you as mine the first year I read your Midnight trilogy…Lillie hasn’t read those yet even though I said she must. *g* And your Firefighter books. 🙂
I’ve read Love Me Tomorrow! The others are in my TBR pile. I’m rationing Dee’s books so I don’t run out *sniff*
I have discovered a few new authors, but the one that stands out most is Sable Hunter… have just started reading her books and can not wait to read more!
I need to look her up!
I must say, I’m like you (previously)… stuck in the rut of must buy authors (and the list is huge). but now that I have a Nook, I thought I would expand it further. I have tried quite a few new authors thru freebies, but there was one that stands out, hands down. Michelle Hauf. If you love paranormal romance that are hawt, giver her a try. She has a full novel in ebook form at most ebook sellers that is free… Kiss Me Deadly. it’s not the first in series, but it really can be a stand alone.
I have this one in my TBR pile. I think I got it for free on Kindle too. Moving it up the list! Thanks!
Gennita Low’s virtually series. I just happened upon this and am so glad I found them. These books have me hooked and and can’t wait for the third to come out. They were sexy and enticing and straight up HOT. Some of the technical terms kinda flew over my head, but the story to me was very memorable
