This Labor Day weekend I did the same thing I do every Labor Day weekend. I hung out with 40,000 of my geekest friends at Dragon*Con in Atlanta. While there is an insane amount of activities at Dragon*Con, my main day-time activity is to stalk the books. (I say books because that sounds better than saying I stalk authors. Yes? Yes.)

I march in the parade with Sherrilyn Kenyon’s group, I squeeze into every author panel I can, I go to the signings, and I hunt down every author booth in the dealers hall. Which brings us to the point of today’s blog! 😀

Some of the lovely ladies from The Knight Agency had a booth set up and I have books for you!

Lord of the Fading Lands

by C.L. Wilson

Long ago, in the magical holocaust known as the Mage Wars, the immortal Fey and their allies fought to defeat the grasping evil of the Elden Mages and their dark-gifted supporters. During those wars, in a fit of grief-induced madness caused by the death of his mate, Fey shapeshifter Rain Tairen Soul nearly destroyed the world in a blaze of tairen fire.

Now, a thousand years later, the fierce Fey king must fight to save his race from the brink of extinction and once again stop the evil rising in the homeland of his enemies, the Eld. The key to his success lies in the mortal city of Celieria, where the Mage Wars began, and with a young woman whose soul sings to him in ways no woman’s ever has, whose presence reawakens the primal fury of the tairen within his soul, and whose vast, untapped power can either save or destroy him and his people.

If Her Desire For Revenge Doesn’t Backfire…

Diana Dearborn knows all about romance, at least in the books she writes. But passion eludes her in real life—until she’s offered the chance to travel back in time to Camelot. The world of King Arthur and Guinevere is nothing like she pictured, neither is the knight she encounters on her return to San Francisco: Gawain, the hero of her current project. He’s complicated, mysterious, and sexier than anything her imagination could conjure. And he’s been waiting for her…

Now, joined together in a desperate race, Diana and Gawain must prevent an ancient, evil force from wreaking mayhem in the all-too-real present. Diana must learn to trust Gawain—even while she encounters secrets about her own past. But even if their mission succeeds, does Diana’s destiny lie with this man from another time—and will their love alter history forever?

Okay, I have a new book out, called THE MISTS OF TIME. It’s gotten great reviews—two perfect ten ratings from Romance Reviews Today and I have a question. First, the book is about a romance writer, Diana Dearborn, who’s always been fascinated by Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table. She has a day-job working at a children’s science museum. When a mysterious patron gives her a rare book by Leonardo DaVinci and tells her to look behind a door marked “Danger,” she finds that the book is about Leonardo’s effort to build a time machine, and behind the door is a collection of gears and jewels that might just take her back to the time when magic and courtly love was possible.

Okay, it gets complicated from here (it’s time travel after all). She has no childhood before she was adopted by her kind parents, now dead. She has a stalker in San Francisco, and when she goes back to Camelot the guy she brings back isn’t who she thinks he is. She meets a real life knight in modern day San Francisco and he turns out to be difficult. (I like my men difficult). It has a twist even my editor didn’t see coming, so I won’t spoil that here. Suffice it to say that putting time (and love) right is never as easy as you might think.

I need some input here for future reference. My editor thought that because I made my hero a great cook it made him less Alpha. He learned in prison, so that isn’t exactly wussy.  And I liked the fact that he provided for the heroine, just in a more sophisticated way than by hauling home a deer carcass. I thought it made him not only Alpha, but complex. My own husband is a great cook (not just steaks on the barbie) and I think he’s really macho even though he does occasionally watch the Food Network. So I held out for my hero knowing how to put a meal on the table. A really great meal. What do we think? Cooking not Alpha male? Or are there other passions for men I should avoid? Give me your thoughts….
