Some of you may know that Ann has a release today 😀
It’s not easy to tread lightly wearing steel-toed boots.
Sirantha Jax isn’t known for diplomatic finesse. As a “Jumper” who navigates ships through grimspace, she’s used to kicking ass first and taking names later—much later. Not exactly the obvious choice to sell the Conglomerate to the Ithtorians, a people whose opinions of humans are as hard as their exoskeletons.
And Ithiss-Tor council meetings aren’t the only place where Ambassador Jax needs to maneuver carefully. Her lover, March, is frozen in permanent “kill” mode, and his hair-trigger threatens to sabotage the talks—not to mention their relationship.
But Jax won’t give up on the man or the mission. With the Outskirts beleaguered by raiders, pirates, and the flesh-eating Morgut, an alliance with Ithiss-Tor may be humanity’s only hope. Which has
Jax wondering why a notorious troublemaker like her was given the job…
Last week, The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance 2 was released, and Ann’s first vampire story, “Circle Unbroken”, is in there. Five weeks from today, on November 3rd, Skin Game hits the shelves.
A beautiful fugitive—wanted dead or alive.
Kyra is a con woman and a particular kind of thief. She steals with a touch, but she only takes one thing: her target’s strongest skill. Which means she can be a fighter, an athlete, a musician, an artist—anything she wants… for a limited time. Heartbroken, she turns her gift toward avenging her father’s murder; with deadly patience, Kyra works her way into casino owner Gerard Serrano’s inner circle. After pulling off the ultimate con, she flees with his money and his pride.A hit man who never misses the mark.
Reyes has nothing but his work. Pity for Kyra, he’s the best and mercy never sways him once he takes a job. He’s been hired to find out where Kyra hid the cash—and bring her back to face Serrano’s “justice.” Dead will do, if he can’t locate the loot. He’s never failed to complete a contract, but Kyra tempts him with her fierce heat and her outlaw heart. So Reyes has a hell of a choice: forsake his word or kill the woman he might love.
To celebrate today’s release, Ann will spend the day with us, chatting about… well, whatever we want. So come on over, take a seat, grab some coffee or cookies, and ask Ann all about writing.
One lucky commenter will receive a newly minted copy of Doubleblind, so keep the conversation going to increase your chances! 😉
Congrats on your releases, Ann! 😀 I can’t wait for Doubleblind AND Skin Game! 😀
Hi Ann,
Congrats on the releases 🙂
I liked the first Jax book, very cool. Did you have anyone in mind when you wrote her?
Great interview! You are a new-to-me author, and your books look great!
Amy M
Hi everyone!
Jax is most definitely my own invention.
Congrats Ann on the success! I look forward to picking up your book. Thanks for coming out to talk with us. Have a great day!
Congrats on your release of Doubleblind! You have some kind of imagination, I love it!
Ann: where do all your ideas come from for all these great stories? You must have great dreams at night!
HURRAH! I can get my Jax, March and Vel fix.
Congrats on the new release! I’m looking forward to reading Doubleblind when I get around shopping again.
Some of my ideas do, in fact, come from dreams. But not all of them. Some of them, I don’t really know where they came from; they’re just there in my brain and need to be written.
Having been lucky enough to get to read an advance copy of Doubleblind, I already know it’s the best Jax book yet!!! Amazing stuff, guys, you are going to love it.
Ann, can you tell us if each new book is easier or harder to write than the last?
Wow, Ann~~you’re a busy woman, a lot of releases lately!! I can’t wait to read Doubleblind….I’ve been reading bits and pieces about it for a while, and it sounds awesome. Ugh, I haven’t gotten my copy of Mammoth Book of Vamp Romances 2 YET. LOL, that is top of my list. I so exceeded by book budget this month.
Happy Release Day!!
Great question, Louisa!
Each book is different. I don’t know if I’d say harder or easier, but different. For me the standard is: the beginning flies, the middle drags, and then I sprint toward the finish.
Razorland was hard because of the grueling pace at which I wrote. I don’t know that I’d want to do that again, but I’m glad I didn’t wuss out of the challenge.
Ann,
You’re a powerhouse! You’ve got so many great things in the works–I wish you amazing success with all of them!
Have a great release day, you deserve it!
~Shannon
Happy Release Day!!! Congrats!!! DOUBLEBLIND and SKIN GAME both sound like they are great reads… Wonderful covers… I really like them! 😀
congrats on the releases Ann!
Congrats on the new release! I love a kick butt heroine who can take care of herself! I was wondering if there will be more books based in Jax’s world?
Congrats on the new releases Ann! Talk about prolific. Someone has been getting alot of writing done. Looking forward to reading them.
Joder – yes. There will be a total of 6 books, assuming I sell the last two. I just sent in the proposal last week. There is one more, guaranteed, because it’s already written and turned in.
Congrats on the new release!
Ann!!! I recently read Grimspace and Wanderlust and cannot wait to get my hands on Doubleblind! I often try to avoid a series like this just because I can’t stand the waiting between books, but I couldn’t stop reading! I love Jax and and her whole supporting crew… Keeping my fingers crossed for books 5 & 6!
Ignorant question–are your other books a series, or stand-alone?
Fedora, Corine is a series, too. Her new books come out every April. Jax comes out October (end of Sept, same thing). So you get a new Ann Aguirre every 6 months in my SFF series.
My Ava Gray romances stand alone. You can read them out of order, but you may find your understanding enriched about the larger shared world by reading in order.
Great news about the continuation of the Jax series, I can’t wait to catch up with her in Doubleblind. I’ve also got my eye on Skin Game. What’s up next for Ava Gray?
very good post.

Cathy M, Ava Gray has her first book, SKIN GAME, coming out November 3. After that, the next one, SKIN TIGHT, comes out June 2010.
Hi Ann, definitely looking forward to reading the newest Jax book, and now loving those, will have to read the others.
Do you want to do more vamp books now that you’ve written that first one?
Hi Ann
I have definitely got to make it to the bookstore for Doubleblind. I think Sirantha Jax is awesome. I can’t wait to find out how March gets along.
Glad to hear that we can expect more books. I am also keeping my fingers crossed. Congrats!
The vamp story is only a short, Pam. I’ve not sold any vampire novels.
Congratulations on your new book. It sounds amazing and I can’t wait to read it.
Ooh, and just to make sure, is the Ava Gray series paranormal? Or how would you categorize? So good to know when we can get our Ann fixes throughout the year 🙂
Ann, congrats on your new releases. I loved Grimspace, it was a wild ride of a read. Am glad you are a prolific writer/ sounds like there will be plenty with which to keep up my reading.
Fedora, the Ava Gray books are romantic suspense with paranormal elements.
I LOVE your books, Ann, and I’ve been dying for DOUBLEBIND! I’m glad to hear there are more books in the series coming!
What type of book/genre would you like to tackle someday that you haven’t yet?
Both Doubleblind and Skin Game sound like they’ll be great to read. They’re on my list now.
Hi Ann~
I am really looking forward to reading Double Blind as I loved both Grimspace and Wanderlust. You were my first real science fiction read and I have to say that I am not in the least little bit disappointed and I appreciate your making me realize how great it can be.
Skin Game is as amazing as it sounds (and yes, I will be sending you the review link very soon…real life certainly can get in the way from time to time). I have to say that anything that has Ann’s name on it is completely amazing!! Okay, am I creeping you out a bit with my crazy fan girl talk?
Hi Ann 🙂
I have to say every day it is catchier for me not to buy your books… you got me addicted with the blurb, but the longer I lurk around your books the more I love the covers – they are so detailed and lovingly created – fantastic!
Greetings,
Ina
