He’ll fulfill her wildest fantasies… but only if she believes.
The Gray Court, Book 1
Leo Dunne has been searching his entire life for the one person born just for him. He finds her working in his own company, but the shy little Ruby Halloway constantly hides from him. He hatches a devilish plot with her best friend to bring her out of her shell, and the result proves her desire is more than a match for his own.
Ruby has had the hots for her boss for some time now, but she knows business and pleasure shouldn’t mix. While that can’t stop a girl from dreaming, she sticks by her guns and does her best never to be alone with the handsome CEO. Until the company masquerade party, where she discovers a passion with him that leaves a mark on her soul.
A family emergency calls Leo away, and rather than spend one night out of Ruby’s arms, he convinces her to go with him. With his brother’s life on the line, it’s vital she learn how to deal with who, and what, her new lover really is…before it’s too late.
Once upon a time a girl fell in love with a handsome fae prince, but that handsome prince didn’t know she was alive. She strove to avoid the prince, because the pain of watching him with the beautiful princesses who flocked to his side was too much for her to bear.
The prince had noticed the girl, but because she avoided him he could never tell her how much he wanted her for his princess. So the prince hatched a plan involving an angel, a costume ball and a double dog dare…
Okay, so Leo isn’t a prince. He’s merely a lord. And Ruby isn’t exactly Cinderella, either. She’s an accountant in Leo’s party planning firm. Still, it’s a heck of a start to a fairy tale, isn’t it?
I wanted to do a series of modern-day fairy tales. Not Cinderella, just fairies and, well, their tales. What better way to start than to write a story about an Elven lord and the woman he wants to claim as his?
The fae have always called to me, especially the Sidhe. I’ve been a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien since I was twelve years old (trust me, that’s a lot of years). I’m such a geek I’ve read the Lord of the Rings nine times, the Hobbit seven, and actually got through The Silmarillion, something none of my other friends managed to do without falling asleep. I always play an elf in video games whenever they’re available, and I even thought about learning Sindarin (an Elven Tolkien language) but decided that might be crossing the line into super-geekdom even for me. When Everquest II mentioned they would introduce a race with fairy wings I squee’d like a little girl. Heck, I courted my husband while role-playing an elf. All hail the mighty dice! Needless to say there was no way I could go through life without writing about the fae.
Thus the Dunne family was born. The middle child, Leo, began whispering in my ear about this woman he had his eye on. What to do when the woman of your dreams keeps hiding in the ladies room every time you try to talk to her? You could try using your Sidhe powers, but she’ll only think it was a dream. Mention you’re an elf and she’ll either run further than a Boston Marathon contestant or refer you to the nearest hug-me jacket factory. The only way to get her to see you’re not a candidate for anti-psychotic medication? You have to prove to her you’re everything you say you are, and a little bit more. And Leo does that admirably.
So here I am, and finally my fairies are out in the world. Now I’m left wondering… were there any dragons that were considered fae? Because I’ve been dreaming about dragons recently…

This sounds great! *adds to TBR list*
I can’t wait to read this!! If I can get it loaded properly *grumble grumble*. I love Dana’s work. Always so imaginative and vivid.
Anways….off to go play with stanza and see if I can get it on my iPhone (so please don’t enter me in the contest lol)
Good luck everyone!
Thank you, Chris!I hope you enjoy it. 😀
Natasha, You’re still having problems? Yeowch. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help, okay?
sounds like a great read. Love you puma series. And I’ll be adding this one as soon as the finances allow lol.
Ohhh sounds like a great story! I keep hearing how great your stories are.
Can you tell me do you think there’s a difference with publishers who do ebooks vs publishers who do print only? Or print mainly? Are the ebook publishers more open to ideas?
And do you have a favorite ebook reader?
hugs,
WendyK
Thanks Pam! I’m hoping people like this series as much as the pumas.
Wendy, I use a smartphone or my laptop to read ebooks, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Sony e-reader, especially the 505. If you’re looking for one I’d start there.
And as for print vs ebook, I think ebook publishers are a little more likely to take a walk on the wild side, and they’re also more likely to take a chance on a brand new writer.
This sounds like a wonderful book!!! I love stories with the fae and Sidhe. I’m glad your fairies made it out into the world. And as for dragons…bring ’em on!! Nothing sexier than a hard fighting, winged shape shifter!!!
I love dragons too! I’ve just been trying to find a series that they fit into for me. I want to keep my Halle Shifters a part of the natural world, so that’s out. True Destiny just doesn’t feel right, you know? And the new series, Heart’s Desire might fit dragons, but really I think the best place for them would be among the fae.
Now I have to come up with a fairy dragon, don’t I? 😀
*waving* Hello, Ms Bell!
This story sounds great–I love the contemporary twist on the fae mythos. Here’s wishing you a lot of success with it and hoping we get more in this universe soon! (Dragons? cool!)
Oh when I read this post, it put a smile on my face! This book sounds wonderful! I love things fae… This is definitely a book I would love to read… oh and dragons, love them too! 😀
I’ve got definite plans for my fae. You’re going to meet Sidhe and leprechauns and vampires (yup, vampires are fae) and dragons if I can work them in and…
I have an Excel spreadsheet. There’s a LOT of fae.
Robin Goodfellow and Oberon will eventually get their own stories, too. 😀
Ah, I want this!!!
Oops, in my excitement for the book, I forgot to say hello first. *cough* Hi Ms. Bell! Any chance this book will be available in print AND in the near future? I don’t ever buy e-books and I am really really impatient to read this book.
It’s not up to me whether or not a book goes to print, no matter how much I beg, plead or bribe with chocolates. It’s up to the publisher. So while I’d like to say yes, my answer has to be a firm… maybe? As soon as I know if it’s going into print I’ll add it to the print section of my website.
Right now my only book in print The Wallflower as part of the Hunting Love anthology.
Okay, I’m off to cry in a corner! Lol. I’ll add this to my TBB list. Hopefully, it will go to print. Thanks!
You’re welcome. 😀
this book sounds really great, please count me in on the giveaway

Oh, I’m so thrilled you’re here!!
I LOVE, love, love your puma books………..I can’t wait to read Dare to Believe!! I’ve been counting the days, lol.
You write w/ such a a great humor and wit, I love it!!
Hi Melissa! Thank you. I’m hoping to hear back soon on the last Puma novella and I’ve started work on the full length shifter series. There were rumors that if I didn’t start soon people would raid my chocolate stash and hold it hostage until I started writing.
Hi..I just finished the first in the Puma series and now have to go get the rest of them. My wallet and my other hobbies always suffer when I find a new author and series! I am looking forward to your take on the fae..
Oh I know what you mean, Amy. When I found Lora Leigh… ouch. I think I’m still paying the bills for that one a year later. 😀
I am always on the lookout for a great paranormal romance story and giggled my way through the excerpt for Dare To Believe that you have posted on your website. Loved your Puma series, Dana, and can’t wait to read this book.
Thanks, Cathy! Leo and Ruby have a lot of fun together.
This sounds like a great book! I really enjoyed the Puma stories and I can’t wait to read this one!
I have this book on my To Buy list. It sounds great!
Wow, this sounds like a great book Dana! And I love your Behind the Scenes story of how this series was born.
Is it just my imagination or do the cover models totally resemble the younger versions of Melissa Gilbert and hubby Bruce Boxlightner?
Thanks Catie!
P.S.: Melissa maybe. Not really seeing Bruce. 😀
I just wanted to drop by and say hi to Dana. Looking forward to buying and reading your book. By the way I’m all for dragons – I love them.
Congrats on the new release Dana! It looks yummilicious!

Oh my gosh – I am the BIGGEST sucker for the secretary-boss trope. In fiction, I heart it. I heart it so much it’s not even funny. Your book sounds terrific, Dana – thanks for visiting with us today!
Thanks, Bella! And thanks, Limecello!
Sounds like a great story. I have always been a fan of fairy tale type stories. I am with you as well on the attraction to the fae.
Hi, Dana! I haven’t read too many books on the fae–might have to start 🙂 I do love a good series–it’s so much fun to know there’s more coming and to get to keep seeing favorite characters/places again. I love this idea of modern day meets fairy tale!
Thanks! It always seems like I start out with a stand-alone and wind up thinking, “Well what about so-and-so? Doesn’t he/she deserve a story? And what about this little plot point I never filled in? I should take care of that!”
I have a sci-fi story running around in my head that’s supposed to be stand-alone. Wonder how far in it will turn into a series? *headdesk*
LOL! Well, you’ll be making many happy fans even happier with the sequels 😉 Keep on writing, Dana! May all those unresolved plot points and secondary characters keep popping up to draw your attention and get their stories told!
I’ve been reading enough buzz about this book that I’m very excited to read it!
