For those who aren’t familiar with the Demonica world, Passion Unleashed is the third in a series of books that are set in and around an underworld hospital run by vampires, demons, and werewolves. It’s sort of, Buffy The Vampire Slayer meets E.R. *g*

In Passion Unleashed, bad boy vampire demon, Wraith, is in a lot of trouble. He managed to get himself poisoned, and the only cure in the universe is a woman named Serena Kelley, who holds the antidote – in the form of her virginity. Let’s just say that she’s not giving that up for just anyone.

But Wraith isn’t just anyone. He’s an incubus, a demon made for sex…a male no female can resist.

Fun!

So…he’s a demon, but how is he also a vampire? That’s a long story that is revealed over the course of the books, but I can tell you WHY I did that to him.

See, when I originally came up with the concept of the underworld hospital, I decided that I wanted demons to be the main characters/heroes. I adore vampires, but they are so popular, have been done over and over, and have been done extremely well. I wanted something different, something I could make my own.

So…demon doctors!

But I still love those vamps. Clearly, I needed to get my vampire fix and make one of my guys a vampire. That guy is Wraith. He totally loves the demon side of himself, but he detests the vampire side. Oh, he doesn’t mind the hunting and the feeding, but he despises other vampires, wants nothing to do with them, and would rather kill one than look at it.

Yup, good times with the vampires! : )

Oh, demon duckie! Woot!

I just finished Passion Unleashed Saturday night (purchased Saturday afternoon) and could not put it down!

I’m very fond of vampires (such as the Black Dagger Brotherhood), but I’m definitely enjoying the demons in your series and in Kresley Cole’s The Immortals After Dark.

Congrats on a great series – can I ask when books 4 & 5 are pencilled in for release – have been spoilt with the first 3 coming back to back.

Willa, book 4 is scheduled for Feb. 2010, but that could change. I’m hoping it’ll stick! Probably depends on how fast I can get revisions done. Book 5 should be a fall 2010 release.

Oh my gosh!! Larissa! I am soo star-struck!

I went to Illinois to visit family two weekends ago. I had heard lots of good things about your books, so I picked up the first two from the library for the trip. I had the books out the entire time and read the two books during the weekend! I don’t own your first book (no local bookstore), but I have bought the second one!

I loved the first two books! 🙂 The first book was such a great introduction to your world and the characters were fantastic. I loved Shade’s book with Runa. Your books are such a different take on werewolves. I’m excited to read Wraith’s book.

I love vampires, but I really LOVE shapeshifters too. 😀 I’m kind of liking demons right now too, wink wink!

Larissa~~ You KNOW I loved me some Wraith. LOVED it, was thrilled with how his story turned out. And I want MORE!!!!
And I loved ’em all…shapeshifters, Vampires, Demons, witches etc….I’m a total fan girl of them all. The fallen angel is new to me, but love the way you’ve done that….
A Demon Duckie??? How cool is that???

Hi Larissa,
Humm my favorite paranormal being? Probably were-creatures. I love love love my Dark-Hunters, and Dream-Hunters and other vamps and such, but I think I adore the were-creatures more than anything else.

What a great sounding story.

man I want that demon duckie. lol. Love this series. But as far as favorites in the paranormal world I don’t think I have one I love them all. But I would love to see more characters with powers. Like mutants or witches with hp type power.

I love the variety in paranormal… authors take it in many directions… It is hard to pick one, I love shapeshifters, nightwalkers, witches, mystical creatures and more! 😀

My first choice would be vampires!! I started out my reading career with them. I still love a good vampire book.

A few years ago I started reading the shapeshifters and I am really into them now.

Those are my favorites, but I enjoy all genres.

Passion Unleashed sounds like a great read, demon and vampire, what more could you ask for 🙂

Who am I partial to in the paranormal world? My heart keeps telling me “witches” because I’ve been fascinated with pagan witches since high school. (Not the green-faced ones deplicted in Halloween).

Then it would have to go shape-changers… hey, my first character I ever made for the role playing world was a shape changer inspired from a Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman book.

I have long since retired her. Demons are fast becoming another favorite with vamps and weres tired.

Goodness, Larissa, it’s so hard to choose a favorite as there are things I enjoy about each type of paranormal being. If I were going to choose a group based on my favorite stories so far, I’d have to go with demons and angels – though shifters are right behind those two groups.

I’m so excited about Passion Unleashed being out…….I am seeing it everywhere here! I did pre-order it and I’m still waiting, should be here soon but I have to tell you I pick Passion Unleashed up wherever I see it and carry it around with me while I shop, just makes me feel good……I’m so tempted to just buy it so I don’t have to wait for my book!!!!:)

I love shape shifters best but I like demons and vampires and fairies and witches too!! 🙂

Vampires had been my preferred favorites until Larisssa’s Demonica novels and her demons tend to be just as cool if not cooler than other authors’ vampires. 🙂 I haven’t quite gotten into shapeshifters yet…

I definitely have a soft spot for shapeshifters – gorgeous humans together with the best of big cats or wolves. But if I have to, I’ll still take the gorgeous (human) male by himself too 😉

I admit, I get a bit of a hard-on for the shapeshifters, but the vampires are so INTENSE it’s hard not to fall for them.
At the same time, I wrote about an alien who stole my heart and somewhere in my soft, girly soul, I still love a fallen angel.

In other words, I’m easy to please 🙂

I have LOVED vampires since I was a kid. I was a vampire for 3 years in a row for Halloween when I was little. I have also become very partial to Demons and it has been hard to find good PNR centered around Demons until now. But I love anything paranormal.

I think I prefer shifters, but like others have mentioned, they’re all pretty intriguing. I’m a bit of a scaredy cat though, so I have to say that I prefer ones that aren’t quite so scary that I can’t sleep 😉 A demon duckie huh? Hee! Or should I be hiding under the bed?
