Take Me. Tempt Me. Tame Me.
Cailey Holm is definitely not a cat person-in fact, she’s terrified of felines in all forms. Creating a sexy were-lion as the hero of her latest erotic romance was supposed to help her overcome that fear, but suddenly the tall, dangerous, domineering alpha-cat of her darkest dreams is standing in her living room-and then carrying her back to his world, demanding to explore her most erotic fantasies.
Set free from Cailey’s story, Lander Cornelius, King of the Werekin, now has a mind of his own-not to mention a magnificent, muscular body specially designed to make his mistress ache with desire. At first Lander’s only motive is to protect his people by controlling Cailey’s magic. But now, he intends to bring them both to the peak of ultimate ecstasy, showing her the intense pleasure of total submission, and unleashing a pure, animal passion that has no limits except their wildest imaginations.
Hello all! I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to share a little bit about my latest release, Wicked Beast, on Novel Thoughts and Book Talk today. First, I’ll tell you a little about myself. My name is Tawny Taylor and I’m your average suburban wife and mom, with one exception—I write naughty (aka erotic) romance novels. Many of my books have a touch of humor as well as mild BDSM. My heroes tend to be larger than life–in all the ways a romance novel reader would appreciate–and my heroines quirky.
Tina from TwoLips Reviews had this to say about Wicked Beast, “I found the blend of humor, sex and domination to be a wild blend in Wicked Beast. Tawny Taylor does domination with a heart and Wicked Beast is an unforgettable, tasty ride everyone should take!”
I’d love to share a short excerpt:
He took a single step forward, but she tried to fend him off by lifting her hands and glaring.
“Don’t come any closer or I’ll scream,” she warned.
He had no doubt she would shriek. She’d tested the limits of her vocal chords once or twice–or ten times–already. His eardrums had worn thin, thanks to the high-pitched screeching.
But there was no one to hear her now. At least no one who would do anything about it.
He studied the tension in her body, the stiffness in her limbs as he took a second step toward her. The tang of terror filled his nostrils. The aroma stirred his instincts to chase. Capture. Take. “You don’t know our kind,” he said.
“What ‘kind’? What are you talking about?” She flattened herself against the door.
He stopped directly in front of her, using his size to his advantage. “I’m Lander Cornelius, King of the Werekin.”
Recognition slowly touched her features, one by one. Her eyes widened. Her lips parted. The lower one trembled. “Oh. My. God,” she muttered in a breathy voice.
“You will learn to respect me.” He lifted a hand to her face but before his fingers made contact with her skin, she jerked her head to the side.
“Don’t.”
“Yes, I will touch you,” he said, “whenever and however I wish. You are mine. My possession.”
“No, no, no!” She shook her head. “It’s impossible. I just started that story. It isn’t published. I haven’t posted it on the internet…how? Did you hack into my computer and steal it?”
**************************
The premise of the story was the product of a casual conversation between some friends who happen to be not just book enthusiasts but book fanatics. They were discussing the heroes of recent novels they’d read and the topic of whether they would want to be married to their fave book’s hero was raised. Interestingly enough, they were all in agreement–the qualities that made a novel’s hero so appealing would also make him extremely difficult to live with in the real world.
The seed of an idea was planted in my mind. What if a woman was faced with her secret ideal, a man who couldn’t possibly exist in real life? Would the darkly sensual, powerful, alpha man of her dreams turn into the monster of her nightmares when he stepped out of her fantasies?
Wicked Beast is the story of Cailey’s journey into the erotic world she’d created in her imagination, where man and beast share one glorious body, and her deepest fears force her from the safe world she’s known. I hope you’ll enjoy taking that journey with her! I most certainly did.

Ohh what a great sounding book and what a great post!
Did you do specific research for your story?
Do you have a timeline or a chart so you can keep straight different parts of the story?
hugs,
WendyK

Hi, Tawny
I’m loving your storyline. On my way to visit your site. Will there be a book two? Also what project are you working on now? Have a great day 🙂
Great sounding book. Definitely going on wishlist
Welcome, Ms Taylor!
The premise of your book is indeed very interesting–how often, after all, do we hear readers saying exactly what your friends said? That they couldn’t actually live with any of the most frequently named favorite romance heroes.
I would love to see how you carry the premise off–best of luck with the book!
Great excerpt! I enjoyed that little blurb… Sounds like it will be a great read! 😀
Great excerpt. Definitely sounds like a great read 🙂
Sounds like my kind of read, enjoyed the excerpt!

Great blurb and excerpt. And I really like the cover!
Hi Tawny,
What a unique idea! The excerpt has me itching to read your book. 🙂
Great blurb! The book sounds good.
Hi WendyK! Thanks for the kind compliments! You asked,
Did you do specific research for your story?
Do you have a timeline or a chart so you can keep straight different parts of the story?
I don’t always need to do a lot of research for a book but for this one, I did. I wanted my characters to be lion-like and therefore, I needed to get a good feel for their instincts, their drives, the way the communicate, etc.
As far as a timeline-chart, I use a brief (3-5 page) synopsis as a basic story outline and work from that.
Thanks for the great questions!
Tawny
Hi Ann Marie,
Thanks for the terrific questions!
I do have hopes of a book two and three, but they haven’t been contracted or written yet. Hopefully I’ll get some good news from my publisher soon.
Right now, I’m working on a vampire menage/BDSM novel for Ellora’s Cave, the fourth book in my Twilight’s Possession series.
Hi Azteclady!
We’ve had quite a few discussions about romance fiction–about the appeal of Alpha heroes and the reason for it. We’ve all decided that we have to carry so many responsibilities today (family, work, etc.) that we fantasize about men who are strong and powerful, who will come in and take charge and leave us panting and tingling and satisfied when they’re through 🙂
The thing is, we’ve become comfortable with the level of control we have over our lives, and so if a man were to really step in and take charge like they do in our fave books, we’d probably feel violated.
wow this book sounds HOTT!
xoxo
This looks really good. great excerpt.
Wow Ms. Taylor, this sounds like a great read and I love the impetus behind the novel’s creation. (I’m pretty sure *most* of us wouldn’t be able to take more than five minutes of real-world time with our favorite romance novel/movie/television alphas). 🙂
Hi Tawny,
Congrats on the recent release of “Wicked Beast.” Loved the excerpt.
Catie, I had to giggle at your comment. Yep, I’d say five minutes would be my limit. LOL
HA! Sounds great! How can you not like kitties?
I love the sound of this book. Love the idea of a sexy kitty.
I love sexy kitties that are very bad…in a good way 🙂
Excerpt was great! Thanks for the chance to win!
Great post! This sounds fabulous and I love the cover. I would love to be entered.
Wow, thanks for the introduction to your book, Tawny! I’m definitely looking for this one 🙂 And LOL at Catie’s comment, too–yep 😉
I love the premise of this book. It sounds so very good. 🙂 Great excerpt. I will be looking for this one. 🙂
