Good morning, all!
Thanks so much for inviting me to guest blog on your great site. And on the very first day of my new novel’s release. How cool is that? It’s been a long time since I had a book out, so it’s kind of like going through the whole first time thing again. I find myself really looking forward to seeing it on the shelves and hearing what people think of it.
I’ve heard from lots of readers who want to know what I’ve been doing for the past two years, since-it seems-I haven’t been writing, but actually the opposite is true. For most of career, throughout the early years in historical romance and even beyond that, I pretty much wrote one book a year. That’s the schedule I like best. It allows me plenty of time to research, edit, refine, and still work through my own very important TBR pile. But when it came to Firefly Lane, that old reliable schedule just didn’t work. Quite simply, I found a story that captured me more deeply than any I’ve written before, and I couldn’t do it justice in my normal amount of time. Some books just take a little longer to write, and such was the case with Firefly Lane.
Don’t you just love that title? I think it really captures the mood and flavor of the novel. Anyway, let me give you a little insider’s peek at what the book’s about. Firefly Lane is the kind of book I’ve been longing to read lately: a big, emotional, women’s novel about the power and durability of friendship. The older I get, the more I realize how important our friendships are. Careers and kids and men come and go, but our girlfriends are always there, getting us through the toughest of times. And while I’d love to think of myself as one of the Sex and The City girls, the truth is, I’m a bit more Northern Exposure, so my characters are down to earth women who make a pact as kids to stay BFF forever, and it holds true for most of their lives -until a terrible act of betrayal threatens everything.
More than a coming of age novel, Firefly Lane is for anyone who ever drank Boone’s Farm apple wine while listening to Abba or Fleetwood Mac or Pink Floyd. It’s the story of a generation of women who were both blessed and cursed by choices.about promises and secrets and betrayals – and ultimate about the one person who really truly knows you-and knows how to hurt-and heal you. And since I’m a romance writer from way back and a romantic at heart, there are love stories woven throughout. One in particular, which I believe is particularly powerful and poignant.
Thanks for the opportunity to weigh in to your great discussion! My best to everyone–
Kristin
Blog note: Three names will be chosen from the comments to win a copy of FIREFLY LANE.
Hello Kristin!
Congratulations on your new book! It must be an exciting day for you. I agree with you. Friendships seem to be more precious these days with people often moving and life being so demanding on a daily basis.
Hi Kristin,
congrats on your new release! Since I read On Mystic Lake I’ve been sold!! I think I have read almost all your books and I have been waiting for your new book, I love your kind, understanding and loving characters and even the places seems so real….I’m too from the ABBA and Fleetwood Mac generation and will love to read about these friends…
Hi Kristin. Congratulations on your new book. I agree with you on how important friendship is. Having a friend to be a sounding board, to laugh with, to cry with is so important.
Hi Kristin, Congratulations on the release of Firefly Lane. I have read many of your contemporary novels which have been wonderful, thought provoking and I look forward to this new release, Firefly Lane which sounds incredible. Friendships are what get us through difficult times during our busy lives. I enjoy the Abba and Fleetwood Mac generation music.
Hi, Kristin!!
Firefly Lane is a great title….and great cover!!
And so true about our girlfriends…no matter what else changes in my life, my bff always are there. Can always help me find the humor and irony in life…and even when they’ve got their own happy relationships, they’re always ready to bash the male of the species, lol.
I can’t wait to read this!!
Congratulations on your new release. I haven’t read your contemporary novels but it sounds like the kind of contemplative but entertaining book that I enjoy.
Congrats on the release! That is a great title and beautiful cover…love the colors.
It sounds like a really good book!
Hi Kristin,
Congrats on the new release!
The cover is a real eye catcher, I’d buy it on that alone. The story sounds very warm. It’s been awhile since I read a nice contemp.
Hugs, Danette
Congrats on the release, Kristin. I loved listening to Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac, unlike my sister, but she was into the Boone’s Farm, I was into the beer.
Hooray on your latest, Kristin! I’ve loved many of your other books, and can’t wait for this one, too! I do like the name and the cover is lovely! I love stories of intertwined lives, and you do those so well–looking forward to this one!
Congrats on your new book! I have been a fan of yours for forever. So glad I have a new book to look forward to.
Drinking Boone’s Farm and listening to Fleetwood Mac, boy those were the days! Congrats on your release!
Congratulations on the release! It sounds like a wonderful story. I so agree about friends. My best friend today is one who I lived next door to and grew up with. I can tell her anything, she never judges and is always there for me.
I can relate, too, about drinking Boone’s Farm. That was my drink of choice on my first date with my husband in an attempt to get over a bad case of nerves. Oh, and I still have my Abba and Fleetwood Mac albums all full of scratches from being played so often.
Sounds like a great book, Kristin. Do you draw your characters from real life or are they purely fictional?
Hi Kristin,
Congrats on the new release! I love the cover. I t goes great with the story. Can’t wait to read it.

Firefly Lane sounds great! I really love powerful and poignant, so I’m sure I will love this one too. You have a way with emotions, you are one of the few authors that make me cry, even when I am rereading your books.
Best,
Julia
