Lucy Monroe Guest Blogging

missfixit.jpg

The very first romance I ever wrote was sort of a tribute to my mom (though I didn’t realize it until much later, after the book was completed).  It was about a young woman that saw it as her call in life to “fix” things for other people.  And she wasn’t bad at doing it either. :)  That book eventually became Miss Fix-It written as L.C. Monroe with co-author Nicolette Derens.

I only wrote two Inspirationals before I realized that my passion and my calling was in sexy, steamy romance instead.  I’ve never doubted where I’m supposed to be since publication, but I sure have wished that I could see those two books published.  But the publishers in the CBA market frown on their authors writing steamy romance as well, so it was a no go.  Until Samhain Publishing came onto the scene and made it possible.  They brought out Meagan’s Chance first and it actually won the 2008 EPPIE for best Inspirational.  Neat, huh?

But now Miss Fix-It has been released as an eBook and I’m truly hoping sales on it will be strong so that Samhain stays convinced that Inspirationals should remain part of their publishing package.

Seeing every aspect of my dream to be a romance author come true has been incredible for me.  Every day is a gift and every book I see published is a total blessing.

Just out of curiosity, what is your favorite genre of romance and why?  Me?  I read almost everything and have auto-buy authors in pretty much every subgenre of romance.  :)

Hugs,

Lucy

Hi, Lucy!

I like comtemporary romance and also a bit of paranormal romance. :)

Good luck with the e-book *crossing fingers for you*

Romantic suspense would be my poison of choice, but I read in pretty much all subgenres of romance.

My mantra: “It’s all in the writing” — so depending on that, I’ll enjoy anything

Hi Lucy,
I’m pretty much a moodreader. So I have auto-buys in most genres including non-fiction(mostly those are military and military fiction, I love to hear stories from vets.). So I read a little of everything. Right now I am the Christian Fiction Coordinator for a site, but I do read/review most anything.LOL

I would say my fave is still Scottish Historicals, but I love anything that has a good story, great characters, and a believable romance. I’m an easy to please reader, most of the time.LOL

I’m thrilled to know your Christian stories have been released. I’ll have to look for them. I do believe alot of readers miss out by not reading some of the Christian stories, many of them are just sweet romances, not morally preaching. If that makes sense.

I have to ask, did you go back and rewrite any of them? Do you plan to ever write another? Who is your favorite Christian author and why? Who is your favorite author period?

Yes I’m nosy and chatty today.LOL

Love the cover btw. Ohhh one more question for now,….What would you say is the best advice you ever recieved regarding writing?

hugs,
WendyK

I am a big fan of historicals but I read several different genres. I like how historicals allow you to escape to different periods of time and get a glimpse of life during that period.

Hi, Lucy!! Good luck with the Inspirational book…I haven’t read it yet, but I know it’s great, since your books tend to all be that way!!
And I’m like you…I have favorites in all the differnt sub genres…I’d have a hard time saying what my favorite, favorite is at any one time is, as it can change. Sometimes I’m hooked on paranormals for months, then I may crave romantic suspense, then historicals….but there are many, many authors it doesn’t matter what they write, I follow them, and buy their books. Right now I’m on a Lauren Dane werewolf kick, lol. So shapeshifters are currently holding my attention….

Hi, Lucy! I’ve read some of your steamier stuff and am excited to know that you’ve written some inspiration stuff, too! Will definitely be looking for it. As for what I read–I started out mostly reading contemporary (a lot of category romances), then more recently tried some historicals and loved those, too. I’m open to reading pretty much anything as long as they aren’t too spooky–I tend to avoid paranormals because I’m often not sure whether I’ll be too easily creeped out! Just the chicken in me ;)

My favorite genre of Romance to read is Paranormals. Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter series and Christine Feehan are auto-buys for me. I also enjoy reading a good suspense. Good luck on your release and glad to see you here today.

I also read most genres and have auto buy authors in these genres. I do lean toward romantic suspense.

I love paranormals and fantasy most but I read pretty much every other genre as well. I like to have a variety of books from a varitey of genres to read. More fun that way. I enjoy inspirational romance and I am excited about your new release. It sounds so good.

Hey, everyone!

Sorry it took me so long to get over here. Believe it or not, I’d lost the blog address, so I had to get on my work machine to find it. I’m such a dunce sometimes. :)

First, thanks tons for your warm welcomes and positive attitude toward Miss Fix-It. WendyK asked if I had to go back and rewrite any of my previous books before publication and the answer is - only Miss Fix-It, which is why I have a co-author. She did the rewrites and the tightening of the plot. Nicolette is amazing and I can’t imagine enjoying working with anyone more on a project.

Second, WendyK also asked if I plan to write more inspirationals and the answer is not at this time. I never say never though. :) My favorite Inspirational author is Dee Henderson. I can’t name my favorite overall author as I have so many. I mean tons and tons of autobuys, but I was reading Christine Feehan the day before yesterday and BA Tortuga last night. :)

Any more questions? I’m feeling chatty too. LOL

Lucy — do you have plans to complete the Children of the Moon series?

I pretty much read everything also. A few authors that if they have a new book out I will buy it even without knowing what it is about. :-)

Oh, absolutely Mad. :) I’m writing the next book in the series (Abigail and Talorc’s story) this fall. I’m really looking forward to revisiting that world. LOL

Larena…I have way too many authors I feel that way about. I’m a book addict. ;-)

I love historical romances… because they take us to another time and makes us dream of a lost era :)

Thanks Lucy for answering. Okay now a hard one. What book is closest to your heart, that you’ve written and why? Not favorite, necessarily but closest to your heart?

Also what book do you most hope readers will love? What book do you suggest a new to you reader read first?

And what book has your favorite cover?

Do you think that the internet has helped your sales and those of other authors or hurt the world of romance novels?

Do you have advice for aspiring writers?

And what is your favorite question asked to date by a reader?

What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked since you’ve been published?

Okay I’m going now.

hugs,
WendyK

PS I probably won’t read until tomorrow as it’s storming my way and I hate to be online when it’s storming.

My favorite romance genre would be contemporary. I also like to read historical romances and romantic suspense.

it would be contemp and ertoic booksand series
miss u at writerspace

Oh, wow…go to dinner and see what happens? LOL Lots of stuff to think about - only I love hearing everyone’s favorite reading habits.

KimH…You’re right. I need to get back over there and visit from time to time. I’ll have a look after I leave here tonight. :)

Now…WendyK…

What book is closest to your heart, that you’ve written and why? Not favorite, necessarily but closest to your heart?

There isn’t one. Can’t be. Every book gets written because the characters for it are clamouring more loudly than all the others in my head. Which means that if I take the time to write it, it’s already pretty close to my heart. Then I fall in love with my characters (it happens every time) and voila…a book from my soul. The easier answer would be which book/s aren’t indelibly written on my heart. There are a couple, but I won’t share what they are because my readers love them and whatever I was going through writing them should never negatively influence the people I write for, yeah?

Also what book do you most hope readers will love?

The one I’m working on now, whatever one that may be. I live in fear with each book that this is the one that isn’t a “real” story, that it won’t touch reader’s hearts, that my editors will hate it.

What book do you suggest a new to you reader read first?

The Real Deal because it has a lot of the elements I find most intriguing in a story, so revisit and if a reader likes it, she will probably like my others.

And what book has your favorite cover?

And Able - the cover model (who remains anonymous as he was taken from stock photography) is the spitting image of Hotwire in my mind.

Do you think that the internet has helped your sales and those of other authors or hurt the world of romance novels?

Helped absolutely! Though that doesn’t mean it’s all good. It’s not. But for the most part, I love the Internet. :)

Do you have advice for aspiring writers?

Never give up. Write. Write. And write some more. I have a ton of stuff (including a free online class group) for aspiring authors on my website. Just look under “For Writers” on the drop down menu.

And what is your favorite question asked to date by a reader?

“Will you sign this book?” and it was a battered, dog eared copy, obviously read many times. Made me feel so good to see that. :)

What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked since you’ve been published?

“Do you write your own books or use a ghost writer?” I know it’s just ignorance, but I laughed out loud.

Hugs,
Lucy :)

Hi Lucy!! Your mom sounds a like a great lady! I’d have to think about what I’d have called my mom. She always told me that even though I couldn’t hear, I could listen. Lots of good advice from her. Hope your family is doing well, we missed you.

I love to read a variety! My favorites being historical and vampires/werewolves! I love both romance and erotic romance. I starting to get into a lot of fantasy romance so its great how many varieties there are and that continue to come out!

I don’t read inspirational, except for a short story here and there, more as a comfort read, not for romance. But I often thought of trying a historical one (one that is inspirational, not Christian (religious) ones. Was your other a contemporary too? Huge congrats on the EPPIE. I’m sure it made this story all the more special!

Hey, Caffey…yeah, it was really nice to spend the evening with family. I was so bummed readers were disappointed, but there was a miscommunications somewhere along the way. I love the Writerspace folks, they are so good to me. :)

Yes, Meagan’s Chance was contemporary, but Miss Fix-It is historical. Neither are “religious” though Ginney tends to be really vocal about her faith and what she expects out of Caleb. I found her funny and a little naive - definitely charming - sort of like Pollyanna (whom I adore). Hopefully, readers will find her the same way. :)

If you do get a chance to read the story, please, please, please let Nicolette and I know what you think. :)

Hugs to all!
Lucy
